A Note From President Bill Sahm

Dear Trojans,

This time of year always reminds me of how grateful I am to play a small part in the critically important mission of Bishop Chatard. The blessings for all of us who serve here are extensive, but here are few at the top of my list:

• Educating students who have been nurtured and formed by loving parents and families (we couldn't do this without you!)
• Living under the umbrella of a mission that calls us to place our faith at the center of all that we do. 
• Witnessing the transformational journey of 14-year-old freshmen to 18-year-old young adults who are prepared to take the next step toward the realization of their calling.  
• Experiencing firsthand the incredible generosity of our community who help us make our school affordable to all who desire a BCHS education. You allow us to continually move forward with all of the important projects and initiatives that positively impact all of our students.

May this Thanksgiving be a time of blessing for you and your family!

The 2026-2027 Key Dates Calendar is now available. Please note that this calendar includes scheduling adjustments to allow teachers to attend the NCEA Conference hosted by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. This change alters our typical one-week Spring Break schedule, which will return in 2027–2028.

Construction Update - Evanston Avenue Open

Thank you to our BCHS community for your flexibility and cooperation during the demolition work along Evanston Avenue, across from the baseball field. Demolition is now complete, and the road will remain open until the next phase of construction begins. Parking along the third baseline will once again be available for students; however, please continue to watch for barriers and future road closure notices.

Season of Giving Christmas Drive - December 1-4

Bishop Chatard continues our Season of Giving! After a successful canned food drive that provided thousands of items to six organizations serving the hungry in Indianapolis, our Girls Lacrosse Team is now leading the effort to support families with young children this Christmas.

December 1–4, the team will be collecting diapers, onesies, children’s books, and toys for little ones newborn to age two. Members of the Girls Lacrosse Team will be on hand to receive donations at Door #10. Thank you for helping us share the spirit of the season with those in need!

Winter Sports Yard Signs - Order by Sunday, December 7

The deadline to order winter sports yard signs has been extended to Sunday, December 7. The cost is $25 for single-sided and $35 for double-sided signs. Payment can be made by check, cash, or place your order online. Click here for a paper order form.

Incoming Freshman Financial Aid Deadline - Monday, December 1

For families with incoming freshmen for next school year: the financial aid application is due on Monday, December 1. Please click here to learn more.

If you only intend to apply for the Indiana School Choice Scholarship, you do not need to complete the financial aid application. Click here to learn more about this program.

Christmas on Crittenden - Friday, December 5

Join us on Friday, December 5 from 5:30-7:00 pm for our annual Christmas on Crittenden celebration! Stroll down Crittenden Avenue toward Door #10, where you’ll be greeted by a real North Pole reindeer! Then step inside our winter wonderland (the Auxiliary Gym) to enjoy crafts, snacks, and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Bring the whole family and celebrate the season with us at BCHS! Volunteers Needed

December Theatre Happenings

Improv Christmas Show - Wednesday, December 3

All are welcome to join the BCHS Improv Team for their Christmas show: Home Alone Unscripted. The show is Wednesday, December 3, at 7:00 pm in the Kyle Guyton Theatre! Free admission!

Senior Directed One Acts - December 12 & 13

Senior Directed One Acts are taking place in the Kyle Guyton Theatre Friday, December 12 at 5:00 and 7:00 pm, and on Saturday, December 13 at 7:00 pm. Click here to learn more and purchase tickets.

Christmas Concert - Tuesday, December 9

Come enjoy an evening filled with the sounds of Christmas! Members of all BCHS choir and band ensembles will perform on Tuesday, December 9, at 7:00 pm in the Main Gym. This festive event is free and open to everyone—don’t miss it!

Help Wanted - Trojan Tots Preschool

Trojan Tots Preschool is hiring substitute teachers from August to May, working with all ages. This substitute position has flexible hours from 7:00 am – 5:30 pm. Trojan Tots follows the same school calendar as Bishop Chatard High School. Our preschool serves children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Substitute teachers are used to cover classrooms when teachers are off as well as to cover lunch breaks and prep time. Interested individuals should email their resume to Kathryn Grose, Director of Early Childhood Education.
