In honor of the Martin Luther King holiday January 12, senior leaders at LADWP attended the launch of the KBLA Climate Justice Campaign led by media host Tavis Smiley and KBLA Talk 1580. According to KBLA, the historic year-long campaign focuses on climate justice by amplifying the voices of communities of color, connecting at-risk communities with advocacy organizations, increasing climate health literacy, and highlighting frontline climate justice crusaders of color. The initiative will achieve these objectives with a robust schedule of climate-themed broadcasts and special programming during the next 12 months as well as free community events, town hall broadcasts, and more.
LADWP's participation will include educational programs, interviews, and other contributions highlighting our equity programs and services. The press conference featured Mayor Karen Bass, Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, LADWP Board Commissioners Mia Lehrer and Nurit Katz, Senior Assistant General Manager – Power System Simon Zewdu, and Senior Assistant General Manager and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Greg Reed.
