“All the Believers were together and had everything in common.” Acts 2:44

“We are a Brotherhood of Churches”

I pray and wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.

This past week, I was honored to worship and preach at Duffau Baptist Church and Sunday evening I attended the DOM Appreciation Dinner at the Waco Convention Center sponsored by Texas Baptist. Monday – Tuesday, I attended the BGCT Annual Meeting representing our Area Churches (See Summary of Service in this Newsletter). I am grateful for Tri-Rivers Baptist Area Hispanic Church Director Jaime Lopez and his wife Ruth for traveling to Corpus Christi to attend the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention Annual Meeting representing Tri-Rivers Baptist Area churches.

Tuesday evening, I traveled with Rev. Miles Miears to FBC Rosebud to assist their search committee as they seek their next pastor. On Wednesday, I traveled with my parents (Rosalind & Bob Ray – Fairy Baptist Church) to MD Anderson in Sugar Land where my mother who has pancreatic cancer was evaluated over the week. I again want to thank you for your continued prayers for her and our family.

This week, the Area Office will be closed on Wednesday – Friday as we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families, however if you have a ministry need, please do not hesitate to contact me.

There are only a few dates available to host the Tri-Rivers

Christmas Duo for your Church/Ministry Christmas Party or

Get-Together. This will be our fourth year providing Christmas Joy through Music. There is never a cost for us to come. We only have a couple of remaining dates available. (See this newsletter to

reserve the Tri-Rivers Christmas Duo)

Please take time to view the Tri-Rivers Baptist Area Newsletter to

remain connected to ministry needs & Resource/Training

Opportunities and to view all upcoming Ministry, Training and

Fellowship Opportunities.

If you have a ministry need or request, please do not hesitate to

call your Tri-Rivers Baptist Area Office as we are here to serve

you 24/7.

Each week we will show our Summary of Service (see

newsletter) to show in a more detailed way on how your Tri-Rivers

Baptist Area Office is serving you the Church and Association as we together serve our Lord as a “Brotherhood of Churches”.

It is our joy to serve.

Christmas is a time of joy, peace, hope and love. It's a time to celebrate the birth of Christ and all God has done for us.

But for many families along the Texas-Mexico border, it's a time of struggle. The Texas counties along the Rio Grande Valley are among the poorest in the nation. Many families there live in substandard housing in rural areas called colonias. They work hard simply to put food on table and a roof over their children's heads.

This December, TBM is sharing God's love by distributing Christmas presents, blankets and First Step Kits to families in the region. You can share the Christmas spirit too.

How can you share God's love this Christmas in South Texas?

Go on the trip to distribute presents and share God's love. As you pass out items to families, you'll have the opportunity to pray with them and share the Gospel.

This Christmas, tell someone the real reason for the season.

Can't go on the trip, but you'd like to help? Order a toy from a pre-approved Christmas list. In a couple of clicks, you'll bring a smile to a child's face this Christmas.

The item will be shipped directly to TBM. During the December mission trip, TBM volunteers will distribute your gift to a child in need.

Together, we will share God's love this Christmas season.

There will be two tracts you can choose from:

1. JFYM Forum. If you need a refresher or want to bring your leaders to experience the in person training, this is for you.

2. JFYM Implementation Workshop. This is only for those who have been to a JFYM Forum and are ready to implement JFYM in their ministry or need help knowing what to do next.

There will be a per person cost for this forum to help with expenses. We will be sending out a promo packet soon, so be looking for that! If you have any questions or want to make sure you receive the packet, just reply to this email and let me know!

We are excited to share that our latest resource is our online learning system featuring Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry which introduces learners to six essential characteristics emulating Jesus’ ministry:

  • Go deeper in intimacy with Christ
  • Pray with passion for God’s presence and power
  • Build leaders for in-depth and long-term ministry
  • Disciple students to move toward maturity in Christ
  • Penetrate the culture through relationships
  • Create outreach opportunities to reach students for Christ

While we still offer in-person training forums, we believe the addition of individualized online training will put this invaluable resource into the hands of many more people. Because we offer the training in English, Spanish, Russian, and Swahili, it will exponentially increase our reach.

We are building on our past to influence the future. And we are giving JFYMO away free to youth leaders during our introductory period. You can learn more by visiting

Tri-Rivers Baptist Area is partnering with Restoration Advocates, Inc. as we continue to minister to victims of Domestic Violence.

Restoration Advocates exists to provide the care and support necessary for women, and their dependent children, who are victims of domestic violence and other dangers that place them at risk of life or physical harm and/or deprive them of their overall safety and sense of well-being. Our mission is for every woman in an unsafe home to have the confidence, as well as the resources, to independently support herself and her children.

To that end, we have established a safe haven called Restoration Place, where survivors of family violence can live in safety as they restore their lives to health and happiness. Restoration Place provides emergency housing for women and children in crisis, and we also offer transitional housing for a period of up to two years if that is needed for the family to be fully independent and self-supporting. Learn More HERE

Righteous Roots has about 26 thirteen(ish) foot church pews that we are trying to donate. Do you know of any churches that could use them? They are all in great shape. We need them removed from our building before December 3. We'd even be happy to give them an individual for crafting purposes; we just need them gone!

Thank you,
