In my first year in the military, I participated in a discipleship group called The Navigators. They emphasized bible study and scripture memorization. That started me on a lifetime journey with God’s Holy Word. 

Both the Old and New Testament give encouragement to study the Scriptures and to apply them. For Christians, Christ is our great teacher, and we are his disciples (one of the meanings of “disciple” is student). 

One of my core tasks as your priest is as a teacher, but I can’t do that alone. We need many of you to answer God’s call for teaching within our parish. We have a particular need in our Children’s Sunday School. Please pray that God will raise up teachers for St Francis.

A memorial service for Gale Lovrich will be held this Saturday, 10 July at St Francis. The parish community is invited to attend.

The Profile Committee began their important work this past Wednesday, July 7. You will be hearing more about their work in the weeks to come. Please pray that the Spirit will guide them is this effort that is vital for the future of our community.
