WHY?:   Raise awareness for Early Childhood Literacy, Unite the Community Around a Common Mission, Provide Take-Home Books to Pre-K and K Children, and HAVE FUN with LITERACY!

What is Read for the Record?
 
As part of Jumpstart's national campaign, Broward will be joining millions of readers across the nation in reading the book   Maybe Something Beautiful  by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell on  October 25, 2018 . Even better, Broward County is uniting to make a true impact on early childhood literacy and raise awareness for early childhood education during this record breaking event. 

Through a partnership between the Children's Services Council, Broward County Public Schools, the Jim Moran Foundation, The Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, AD Henderson Foundation, the United Way of Broward County, Young Lawyers for Literacy, and multiple Broward early childhood stakeholders, a copy of Maybe Something Beautiful  will be provided to each:
  • PreK (age 4-5, going to Kindergarten next year) child
  • Kindergarten child
Books will be provided to children throughout Broward County, including children at public schools, private schools, charter schools, early childhood community centers, and community events!  To participate in this amazing opportunity, Community Early Childhood Education Providers and Private Schools must complete the registration above by Friday, 9-21-18.

By completing this registration, you will :   
  • receive additional communications 
  • reserve books for PreK (age four-five going to K next year) and kindergarten children at your school (for pick up at Lauderdale Manors Community Center, see below) 
  • reserve a Spanish copy of the book for your school (will be included in pickup)
  • register your interest for hosting guest readers on 10-25-18

Participants are invited to post pictures on Twitter of Book Pick Up, Preparation, Readings, and Related Activities to #browardreads

PRIVATE AND ECE COMMUNITY CENTERS BOOK PICK UP:
Books and additional resources for community early childhood education providers and private schools will be available for pick up during the dates and location below. 
 
DATES: Wednesday, October 3, Thursday October 4, OR Friday, October 5   
TIMES:  3:30 PM to 7:00 PM
WHERE: Lauderdale Manors Early Learning and Family Resource Center (Cafeteria/Auditorium on North East side of campus at the front entrance to the school), 1400 NW 14th Ct, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311
