MESSAGE FROM THE PRSA-SF PRESIDENT:
Two Proposals Up for Vote at Assembly this November in Atlanta
Associate membership to be extended and change in dues increase procedure on the ballot
When delegates from every PRSA chapter in the US and around the world gather in Atlanta on November 7 at the Leadership Assembly, they will vote on two proposals.
The proposals are:
Proposal 1501: This proposal creates an additional level of Associate membership by offering a discounted membership rate that increases over a 4-year period to full membership dues rates.
Currently, associate membership is extended for only the first two years of membership. PRSA National expects that as many as 400 members will be retained each year with this change. Currently, that number typically drops its membership when the lower associate membership rate ends.
Proposal 1502: This proposal allows the National Board to increase dues by no more than 5 percent over the length of a 5-year period. This is NOT a proposal for a dues increase, but a change in the structure and procedure used by the board. The last dues increase was made in 2011 and it was immediately effective. This allows the board to slowly take action and increase dues, but only if necessary. It is not automatic.
You can find more information about these proposals on the front page of
, where details are directly under "What's New."
Delegates also will elect officers to the PRSA National Board for 2016. Jane Dvorak, APR, PRSA Fellow, is chair-elect. Ronele Dotson, APR, a member of PRSA-Sierra Nevada, is the nominee for chair of the North Pacific District, the district in which our chapter is located. The full list of nominees for the national board is also under "What's New."
Your chapter's five delegates - determined by size of the chapter; our chapter is large with more than 400 members - to the Assembly for 2015 are: President Michele M. Horaney APR; President-elect Y'Anad Burrell; Immediate Past-President Naomi Hunter APR; Secretary-Treasurer Jessica Airey and Past President Heidi Zuhl. Delegates begin their work six to eight weeks before the Assembly with conference calls regarding the meeting's agenda and procedure.
To share your comments about the proposals, please contact chapter President Michele M. Horaney APR at
