Celebrate National STEM Day! Inspire Your Future Innovator.
Did you know November 8th is National STEM Day? It's the perfect time to celebrate and explore the fascinating worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math!
STEM isn't just about labs and complicated equations—it's about critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity! It’s in the code behind your favorite video game, the design of the chair you're sitting on, and the recipe you're baking. Essentially, it's the foundation for so many amazing careers and innovations that shape our world.
| | Students at Amite High Magnet School work together to design, build, and run a car made from simple materials. AHMS is a STEAM school (science, technolgy, engineering, arts, and math). | | |
Spark Curiosity with STEM Activities for the Family
Try simple experiments in the kitchen, like baking or watching ice melt, to explore chemistry and physics. Encourage building with LEGOs or household recyclables to introduce engineering concepts. Look for community events, local library programs, or museum exhibits that offer hands-on science fun. These shared experiences are fantastic ways to connect, learn together, and help your children see that science and math are everywhere, making the world a fascinating place to explore.

| | Spotlight on STEM: During the Summer of 2025, teachers explored the world of coding and robotics by learning to code simple robots. After learning how to code the robots, they took them back to the classroom and connected them directly to their classroom standards, empowering students with hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving skills. Students put them to work—using the robots to review and reinforce the skills they’ve learned in class through fun, hands-on activities. Here are a few snapshots of the creative ways classrooms brought coding to life around Tangipahoa Parish! | | |
