Sharing Grace

Dear Grace Family,

I did it! I am starting a new phase in my life.

I am lucky enough and by God's Grace have been able to enjoy a long career of doing what I love to do in many different aspects of my nursing career. I spent 12 years in the Critical Care arena. I transitioned and spent almost 20 years in the Cardiac Cath Lab- that was my Nitche . I Have spent the last 10 years away from the bedside and instead caring for employees as an Employee Health Nurse. I have had the blessing of being able to enjoy what I love to do but make changes to suit my main jobs as a mom and wife. I have had the privilege of being able to work while also being a mom to 2 amazing girls and now my new phase will let me enjoy my new role as "Yammy " to grandchildren.

I am grateful to God, my parents, my family, my church and to a host of great leaders and mangers throughout my life that loved me, guided me and now I look forward to God leading me in my next phase and pray that he continues to use me and my skills to his service.

Welcoming this Sunday’s Guest Preacher Rev. Mary Balagia

Mary is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Called into full-time ministry at the age of 50, Mary has had the opportunity to live out her passion for social justice, gender equality, and the power of prayer in her various appointments. As Associate Pastor for the Mercy Street mission of Chapelwood she led the women’s ministry, participated in the prison ministry, and worked with those in the recovery community. A move to Dallas led Mary to Lovers Lane UMC. There she co-pastored the weekly Contemplative worship with Communion. Additionally, Mary was over the Women’s and Prayer Ministries which included Bible studies and prayer retreats. Mary’s last appointment was to St. James UMC in the 4th Ward of Houston. She is now retired and serves in whatever capacity she is called.
