The law has long struggled navigating workplace requirements, worker rights, and protected religious actions and beliefs. Two recent judicial decisions, Atkins v. St. Cecila Catholic School and Groff v. DeJoy, have continued that conversation, increasing worker protections. Atkins limits the ministerial exception (a constitutional standard used by religious institutions to exercise broad discretion in making employment decisions related to workers performing ministerial functions) and Groff raises the bar for a religious accommodation to be considered an undue burden on a company.

Most workshops take place on a weekday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. We have each workshop four times a year with varying dates. The workshops take place at the Women’s Empowerment office. Sign-ups for each workshop are sent via email and are posted on the website before each session.
In program workshops, you will work directly with students and staff to build on and apply the skills learned in class to develop finished products that the women can add to their professional portfolios.
We can take 8-9 spots per workshop per group!

Every session, we conclude our job-seeking skills curriculum with Mock Interviews. Volunteers conduct mock job interviews so the women can apply what they've learned in class. The students "Dress for Success" and provide copies of their new resumes, ready to impress. It's a highlight of every session! Volunteers will interview the students individually and on panels and give feedback to help students evaluate their interviewing skills. Join us for this incredible experience of helping our students "rock the mock!" This Session is unique; we are adding a whole second day of Mock Interviews!! If you cannot make it one day, join us for round 2! | |
