While portions of Kentucky received significant snowfall, the liquid equivalent wasn’t much across the state. In fact, Kentucky saw a third straight week of below normal precipitation. Over the past three weeks, the state is running about 1.5 inches below normal, but with the wet start to the month, there is no reason to complain!
Outside of precipitation, it was another cold week for the area. Overall, the state average temperature was six degrees below normal. Following the snow squalls on Friday, areas across the eastern half of the state didn’t get out of the single digits that night. The Lewis County Mesonet station in Vanceburg dropped all the way to -7! Looking at the data, you have to go back to January 2019 in finding a lower number, when the Burlington Mesonet station dropped to -8. Anyone else not liking their electric bill right now?!?
