Network Lobby Day 2020
Over 140 supportive housing providers, developers and tenants came to Albany on February 25th to call on the Governor and the Legislature to ensure the state commits to the next phase of the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) in the SFY 2020-21 budget expected to be passed on April 1st.

Governor Cuomo Restores $36.3 Million for MRT-Funded Supportive Housing in 30-Day Amendment
Governor Cuomo released the 30-day budget amendment on February 21st which includes a restoration of $36.3 million in funding for existing MRT Supportive Housing Programs serving 6,300 formerly homeless individuals and families.

Network Testifies at NYS Joint Legislative Hearing on 2020-21 Executive Budget Proposal
Laura underscored the importance and need for the budget to fund the next phase of the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) in order to fulfill the state’s commitment to develop 20,000 units of supportive housing over 15 years. She also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Network and the supportive housing community for the doubling of the Homeless Housing Assistance Program (HHAP) in the executive budget.

HPD Update: Occupancy Guidelines
In August, HPD updated the occupancy standards in the  HPD Marketing Handbook  to increase the number of household members allowed per unit size by one person. Additionally, the occupancy guidelines no longer assume that two married or similarly committed people share a bedroom.
