New York City FY 23 Preliminary Budget Analysis
On February 16, Mayor Adams released the FY 23 Preliminary Budget, totaling $98.5 billion, $4 billion less than the current fiscal year.

Network Advocates for Increased NYSSHP Rates and Inclusion in 5.4% COLA
On February 2, 2022, Executive Director Laura Mascuch provided testimony at the New York State Legislature’s budget hearing on human services calling on the legislature to include OTDA’s New York State Supportive Housing Program (NYSSHP) in the 5.4% COLA included in the Governor’s budget and for the program rates to be adjusted to be aligned with the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative rates.

Much Ado About Donna
Donna Colonna, who is retiring as CEO of Services for the UnderServed (S:US) at the end of this month will decidedly be missed. Her contributions to supportive housing have been legion on every level: turbocharging S:US’s development of new supportive housing, innovating new practices to improve services, taking every opportunity to use new service options to improve care and being a thought leader on the intersection of housing, health and behavioral health.

HELP USA Breaks Ground on HELP ONE Buildings
On a brisk February 24th, HELP USA joined project partners to break ground on HELP ONE buildings A and B. Once complete, HELP ONE will be a four-building affordable and supportive housing residence with over 500 affordable and supportive apartments. Buildings A and B will create 255 of the units, 154 of which are supportive for youth, individuals and families who have experienced homelessness. Supportive services will be provided by HELP though the NYC 15/15 Program.

The Network Celebrates Black History Month
In honor of Black History Month, the Network spotlighted the amazing Black leaders in supportive housing, the tireless activist Shams DaBaron aka “Da Homeless Hero,” and the incredible Racial Equity in Supportive Housing (RESH) workgroup.
