On November 3rd, Breaking Ground was joined by 100 project partners, electeds and well-wishers to celebrate its ribbon cutting and official opening of 90 Sands located in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in New York City, DUMBO. A former hotel for the Jehovah’s Witnesses, 90 Sands is second only to Breaking Ground’s Times Square in size, providing a total of 491 affordable apartments for individuals and families, including 305 for people who have experienced homelessness. On-site services are provided by Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) and funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
