Governor Releases SFY 2023 Executive Budget
The Governor released the SFY 2023 $216.3 billion Executive Budget yesterday. It includes substantial provisions, many of which the Network advocated for, to help existing supportive housing programs as well as continuing to expand new supportive housing development across New York State.

Mayor Adams Appoints Affordable Housing Leadership Team
On Sunday January 30th, Mayor Adams announced the team that will lead his administration’s affordable/supportive housing strategy, which will be led by lifelong housing advocate Jessica Katz as the City’s first Chief Housing Officer. Adolfo Carrión Jr. will serve as Commissioner of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and Eric Enderlin will continue serving as the President of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

New York State Funding Awards Announced
The Network's Behavioral Health Advocacy
On December 21st, the Network joined a coalition of behavioral health advocates for a virtual rally to call for a 5.4% COLA and a $500 million investment in workforce, services, and support in the Executive Budget. The rally followed a media forum held at the State capitol on December 16th.  

The Network Testifies at New York City Council and New York State Assembly Hearings
Over the past months, the Network has testified at the New York City Council Committee on Environmental Protection and Committee on General Welfare Oversight as well as the New York State Assembly Standing Committee on Social Services. 

January Community Corner
In October 2021, the nation experienced a wave of walkouts by workers protesting unsafe working conditions and demanding better wages, benefits, and paid sick leave.

Congratulations NYC CoC DV Subcommittee!
The Network's Associate Director of Advocacy and Outreach, Tierra Labrada was awarded alongside Emma Cathell, Kim Maloney and Brenda Tong as members of the NYC Coalition on the Continuum of Care DV Subcommittee by the Mayor's Office to End Gender Based Violence as 2021 Advocates of NYC. Congratulations and thank you for your support of survivors of domestic and gender-based violence!
