This Saturday, August 28, City staff will be hosting an outreach tent at the Vallejo Farmers Market from 9 AM to 2 PM at the corner of Georgia and Marin Streets. Stop by, say hello, learn about current City initiatives, and share what’s on your mind.

Port of Cultures
On Saturday, August 29, from 11 AM to 8 PM, the 200 block of Georgia Street will come alive as the Port of Cultures transforms the area into a vibrant showcase of the traditions, creativity, and cultural communities that make Vallejo truly unique.
Port of Cultures 2026 is a free, all‑day and into‑the‑evening market and celebration held in honor of Vallejo’s 175th anniversary. The event brings together cultural performers, musicians, artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, and community organizations for a full lineup of programming and experiences.

Revitalizing the Past: Restoration Work Begins at St. Peter’s Chapel
St. Peter’s Chapel, the beloved and historic landmark on Mare Island, was dedicated on October 13, 1901. As the first naval chapel in the Pacific, and now the oldest naval chapel in the United States, it holds a special place in Vallejo’s history. The chapel is also home to one of the largest collections of Tiffany stained‑glass windows under a single roof.

Volunteers Needed for Solano County’s Annual Coastal Cleanup Day
This year’s Coastal Cleanup Day will mark forty-two years of communities all over California. Solano County will host 34 sites from 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday, September 19th. Volunteers can join their neighbors to clean up garbage and recycle littered beverage containers to make a difference in their neighborhoods.

Caltrans State Route-29 Pavement Rehabilitation and Complete Street Update
The project is gaining real momentum. Despite a few hurdles along the way, including material shortages, unexpected rain, and design adjustments; the crews have pushed forward with steady determination. Over the past couple of weeks, significant progress has taken shape: new curbs are being poured, fresh lighting poles are rising into place, and preparations are underway for the highly anticipated paving of the six‑mile route.

Vallejo Police Officer Provides Life-Saving Aid to Choking Child
On August 22, 2026, at approximately 6:12 p.m., Vallejo Police Department (VPD) officers responded to the 900 block of Virginia Street after receiving a report of an 18-month-old child who was not breathing. While officers were responding, VPD Communications provided an update that the child was choking on a grape.
