November 2020
The Bishop Chatard Trojans are once again regional champions, defeating the Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets 28-18 in front of a sold out crowd on Friday, Nov. 13. The Trojans are headed to semi-state vs. Mishawaka Marian this Friday, Nov. 20, at 7:00 p.m. at Mishawaka. Good luck Trojans!
Blood Drive in Honor of Jack Shockley: Nov. 29
As you may know, Jack Shockley, BCHS Class of 2014, was killed on August 12 of this year. Though Jack is one of our own, an alumnus and a friend, he is just one example of the violence that is happening in Indianapolis this year. As of October 19, there had been 165 criminal homicides in Indianapolis in 2020. That is a 43 percent increase over 2019. In addition, there have been 480 non-fatal shootings this year, which is a 40 percent increase over last year.

There is a severe shortage in our blood supply, and part of that shortage can be attributed to the record-setting violence occurring in Indianapolis. Any amount of violence is too much. Help us mitigate the unwarranted loss of life by insuring that we have the blood supply to help the victims of this senseless violence. Donate a pint of your blood so that others can live. Let’s honor Jack by making a difference for the other victims of violence in Indianapolis.

Thanksgiving Day Meal Project
Bishop Chatard will again be making warm Thanksgiving meals for the David S. Moore Food Pantry and other needy organizations, to be distributed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. We need a few hands to help make this a success.
  • Volunteers are needed for food preparation, packaging, delivery and cleanup at various times from 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. If volunteering, prepare to be flexible with the tasks.
  • Donate cookies to the meal. We need 20 people to donate 3 dozen purchased cookies each! Use the signup button below, then bring the cookies to the BCHS Cafeteria on Tuesday, Nov. 24, between 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • We will be taking all precautions (masked, gloved and socially distanced) during the meal prep and packaging. Volunteers for any activity will need to wear masks.

2020 ... What's the good word?
When the world rang in 2020, nobody was expecting the year that we’ve experienced. While many events have been cancelled and we have experienced loss, collectively celebrating the good moments has buoyed our spirits.

In the Winter issue of Bishop Chatard’s Trojans Today magazine, we will highlight the things that have brought us joy. This can be as life-changing as a wedding or new baby, or it can be as simple as having the time to reconnect with an old friend, learning a new skill, being home to see your child take his first steps or completing a project that has lingered on your to-do list.

We are asking you, in 25 words or less, to tell us what brought you joy in 2020. If you have a photo that you can include, please do it! We’ll share the good times as we all get through this pandemic together.
Medical Professionals on the Front Lines
Bishop Chatard alumni are among those working on the front lines in hospitals and health care facilities caring for COVID-19 patients, and we are very proud of and grateful for the work you are doing. In preparation for our next magazine, we would like to talk with a few of you about your experiences and how this pandemic has impacted your life and work.

If you are willing to share your thoughts for an upcoming magazine story, please email Bishop Chatard Director of Marketing & Communication Kelly Lucas at klucas@bishopchatard.org. In the email, please include your name, where you work and your job title, your year of graduation from BCHS and the best way to contact you.
