The first day of fall is still a few weeks away, but hey - it's the Mid-South and schools across Memphis are back in session. Sure, that means the return of backpacks and luncboxes - but it also means shifting into high gear for Girls Inc. of Memphis. And we're stepping boldly into fall!

We're currently working to increase the number of schools where we provide GIrls Inc. programming from 16 to more than 40. And to support that work, we're asking friends like to YOU to help us with supplies by shopping from our Amazon Wish List.

After-school programs at our centers are in full swing - and there's still time to register your girls today. And if you're not already supporting Girls Inc. through the Kroger Community Awards program it's time to start.

So stay strong, be smart and take a bold step with us into fall! Read on!
Our footprint in local schools is growing!
With the help of local partners, we're doubling our reach in schools
As we continue our push to increase the number of girls in Memphis who receive Girls Inc. programming, we're making strides in local schools. Up to now, we've provided our Strong, Smart and Bold programming with girls in 16 local public
schools. With the help of our partners in the Shelby County Schools (SCS), the Achievement School District (ASD) and the Communities in Schools organization, soon that number will grow to more than 40
Sylvia Martinez, Vice President of Programs for Girls Inc. of Memphis, says that the focus is on schools in five strategic zip codes - 38126, 38127, 38111, 38122 and 38107.
"We try to meet the schools where they are," Sylvia said, "so we can meet the girls where they are. Ideally I want to us to serve every girl in every school we're in."
Our in-school facilitators need your help!
And all you have to do is shop online!
Increasing the number of local schools where we provide Girls Inc. programming will mean so much for so many Memphis girls. It also means more things we need.
Growing our number of in-school facilitators from 12 to 35 means we need more staff. Interested in helping us inspire more girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold or know someone who is? Check out these open positions now!

And those facilitators need supplies.

As it turns out, there's a way for you to help with these needs as well. Head over to our Amazon Wish List page to purchase and donate whatever you like - it's like a wedding gift registry, but no toasters!
"We need to acquire the supplies needed to make Girls Inc. programming as robust as possible without hindering the school's own resources," says Sylvia Martinez, Girls Inc. of Memphis Vice President of Programs.
These are two great ways to help us grow our footprint in local schools!
