CT Board Member, Carolyn Donaldson
and her student at the year end celebration

We are excited about the growth that Read to a Child is achieving in Connecticut. Check out this great picture from a year-end celebration event at Lincoln Elementary School in New Britain. This is Connecticut Regional Board Member and reading mentor Carolyn Donaldson and her student enjoying a final book before summer vacation.

Read to a Child is also very excited to announce that the Fisher Foundation has generously awarded Read to a Child $5,000 to support the Connecticut lunchtime reading program. A big thank you to them!

Read to a Child and Target

Read to a Child is pleased to announce a $25,000 grant from Target. This grant will allow the lunchtime reading program to grow to a third school in the city of Detroit, which means dozens of additional at-risk children will receive individualized reading sessions.

The grant is part of Target's ongoing efforts to build strong, safe and healthy communities across the country. These efforts include Target's long history of giving 5 percent of its profit to communities, which today equals more than $4 million every week. As part of this commitment, Target is on track to give $1 billion for education by the end of 2015 to help kids learn, schools teach and parents and caring adults engage.
