In each newsletter, we will spotlight one of our amazing volunteer reading mentors. Our volunteers are at the heart of the Read Aloud Mentoring Program. Thank you for making a difference in a child's life!

Please meet Katherine and Nahomi from

Leo Politi Elementary School!

Katherine Murray is a Volunteer Reading Mentor with Los Angeles corporate partner Winston & Strawn, and has read with Nahomi for four years in the Read Aloud Mentoring Program.

Katherine has helped with volunteer recruitment at Winston & Strawn, assisted at some Greater Los Angeles Board meetings, and sets up Winston & Strawn's March Online Campaign page--which raised over $2,000 in 2023 for Read to a Child!

Read to a Child is proud to share some of the results of our student assessments! This year we continued to see significant improvement in students participating in the Read Aloud Mentoring Program!

Staff Summer Summit

Read to a Child's annual staff summit brought colleagues from all regions together at our Wellesley, MA headquarters for 2 days of collaboration, goal-setting, and inspiration.

The staff's collective work revolved around how we will best achieve our strategic goals, including serving more students, expanding our volunteer pool, and increasing funding from new & existing partners. There was also the opportunity for the staff to have a Zoom meet & greet with the National Board!
