From the President's Desk
Hello Stakeholders',
Within the next few weeks, many of us will gather together with our loved ones, family and friends to celebrate the holidays and welcome in 2023. And while each of us is busily preparing to bring 2022 to a close, I hope you share in my sentiment of how truly spectacular the year of 2022 was. And while we can focus on the highlights of the year, it is important for us to not lose sight of the generous and tireless support of every Corporate Member, Minority Business Enterprise, SMSDC Stakeholder and all staff. To each of you we offer our heartfelt warm wishes and thanks. Their contributions are paramount to the continued success of those business connections which impact the economic fabric of our minority communities.
Those of you who participated in all of our SMSDC virtual events - THANK YOU - for attending and participating while we continued to keep your health & safety as our priority. NOW some WONDERFUL news!
I am excited to announce we are ready to be back in person in 2023!
ALL MAJOR EVENTS/CONFERENCES WILL BE HELD IN-PERSON! That's right! We have missed connecting with you in-person!
Perhaps like me, you are already making your list of 2023 New Year's resolutions. I challenge each of you who are reading this holiday message to add one more item to your list, "I will take full advantage of as many of the SMSDC events as possible". You are an SMSDC Stakeholder and as such, I invite you to join us on Thursday, February 23rd at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas facility in San Antonio, TX to collaborate, discuss barriers & successes for achievement in 2019. After the annual meeting, please join us as we take an informative and motivational tour of the Toyota plant. If you have not taken this tour in the past, this is your chance! Stay tuned for additional details regarding the Annual Stakeholder's Meeting coming soon!
Let us not be complacent with what we have accomplished in 2022. Utilize your SMSDC certification to leverage your company to better its best.
As a reminder, all SMSDC offices will be closed the week of December 26th thru the 30th. We will re-open on Tuesday, January 3rd.
On behalf of the SMSDC Board of Directors and team, we wish you a happy new year filled with health, happiness, and spectacular successes.
Happy Holidays!
Karen Box

On November 2, 2022, NMSDC CEO and President Ying McGuire shared an update on the State of NMSDC during the annual members meeting at the NMSDC 50th Anniversary Conference & Exchange. Unfortunately, due to space constraints many conference participants were unable to attend the meeting.

Assist MBEs and
Corporate Members in Need
In response to the impact of Hurricane Ian, we have activated FSMSDC Cares,
our vehicle and platform to assist our
MBEs and corporate members who are in need.
As you can imagine, many of our MBEs, corporate members and partners are experiencing unprecedented levels of flooding, winds and other destruction due to the hurricane.
The goal is to collect office supplies,
non-perishable food, IT equipment
and water to be distributed to the impacted areas. In addition, we are looking for other services and products that our companies will need to recover and begin to thrive after the storm.
We know that the SMSDC family has a big heart, so please decide what you can do and donate generously to help.
