Check Into Your Classes with Canvas

At the start of the semester, your instructors will designate a "check-in assignment" that is used to confirm your attendance in class. Just like when we are teaching in-person, instructors must assess which students have shown-up for class and confirm their class rosters. The check-in assignment may be a discussion, a quiz, or another assignment. The due date will be stated in your instructor's welcome letter and course syllabus. If you do not complete the check-in assignment by the defined date, you may be dropped from the class.

Check My Mission Portal to make sure you are registered. Instructors will open Canvas classroom the first week of classes.
 
Tips for Communicating with Faculty

Staying connected with your instructors in your online classes is really important. Always review the course syllabus; your instructors will usually tell you the best way to reach them. Here are a few ways to communicate with your instructor that you need to know about.

  • Email through Canvas: Canvas has an email feature that allows you to message your instructors without having to search a directory for their email addresses.

  • Post on the course discussion forum: Most instructors will include a course discussion forum for general questions. Use this for questions you don't mind making public since other students in the class can view them.

  • Course announcements: Many instructors post important information on the course announcements in Canvas. Check announcements regularly.

  • Use college email: to communicate and set up single sign on. This is also where they might contact you if you are on a waitlist and would like an add code.


  • Drop into your instructors virtual office hours: Instructors may have videoconference office hours available via Zoom or Cranium Café. Look for and access these in your course Canvas shell.

Library Services

The library building is open to check out reserved materials and returns only, Monday – Thursday from 9am-4pm.
 
Students are able to reserve circulating and food for textbook items for check out. Reserved items will be held for three days and can be picked up at the Library M-Th 9am-4pm.
