Do you know a volunteer or volunteer organization that made your community a better place to live?... Then nominate for the 2024 Spirit of NH Awards!

Volunteer NH invites you to recognize volunteers and volunteer champions serving New Hampshire communities within the past 18 months by submitting an award nomination (or more than one!) for the 2024 Spirit of NH Awards.

This statewide volunteer recognition ceremony shines a light on the dedicated service of volunteers as well as the critical infrastructure that sets volunteers up to make a positive community impact. Awards are in the following categories:

• Youth/Young Adult (ages 22 and younger)
• Adult (ages 23-64)
• Senior (ages 65 and older)
• AmeriCorps (any individual who served in an AmeriCorps State/National/VISTA/Seniors/NCCC program)
• Group (2+ people who regularly volunteer together or with the same organization)
• Business (any business that has promoted volunteerism for its employees and/or the community)
• Nonprofit/Program (any nonprofit or volunteer program within a nonprofit that has used volunteers for big impact).

All eligible nominees will be recognized with an award at the event. Additionally, an independent review committee will select:



• One Outstanding Award for each category; and
• The top honor, the Spirit of NH Award, which is kept secret until presented on event night.

As a parallel to this esteemed, committee-selected award, the general public will vote to decide the People’s Choice Award recipient based on awardee interviews shared in the weeks leading up to the event.

Enhancing Student Support:

Leveraging OST and School Partnerships for Youth with Chronic Health Conditions

Join the Collaborative for Advancing Health Equity in Out-of-School Time (CAHE-OST) to jumpstart the 2024-2024 school year with a professional development opportunity for school staff and out-of-school time (OST) professionals. Their August 22 webinar is specifically designed to help you create intentional processes and partnerships to support youth with chronic health conditions.

Experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Association of School Nurses, and the Collaborative for CAHE-OST will share best practices and tools to tap into existing systems and supports; build relationships with student care teams, including parents, schools, and other health care providers; and coordinate more effectively to promote the health, wellness, and safety of youth.

As a result of participating in this webinar, attendees will have:

• Increased awareness of how OST programs can partner with school health staff to support youth with chronic health conditions.
• Examples from the field for how to build relationships that enhance warm handoffs and collaboration to increase student support and safety.
• Access to tools and resources for creating processes and sharing information with the student's care team, including schools, parents, and other health care providers.

Banking on Kindness - Donations, Contributions, and Sponsorships

Grants and sponsorships to New Hampshire organizations that enhance the quality of life for people in eligible locations. Priority is given to activities that focus on youth services. Funding is intended for programs that strengthen local communities and enhance the lives of residents.

A New Vision of Youth-Led, Youth-Driven Service

The Center for Expanding Leadership & Opportunity has released a resource on Leveraging the Potential of Youth Service, with support from Allstate Foundation and NPSS Support Champion America's Service Commissions. The resource incorporates a reframing of the concept of service around three central questions: What, How, and Why?

• What? Act(s) intended to benefit people and/or communities
• How? By enhancing connections and relationships
• Why? To address issues and strengthen communities

This week Mizzen is taking a deep dive into three fantastic Mizzen Education platform features- Filter, Bookmark, and Schedule- that can simplify planning and save you serious time. Ready for an overview?

Filter. With this simple yet powerful feature, you can browse every activity on the Mizzen platform by category, duration, rating, publisher, learning standard, and a detailed list of tags -from Algebra to Zoology.

Bookmark. This tool is like having your own personal library on Mizzen. Select any content you like (activity, module, playlist, or pro tip); tap bookmark, and you'll be able to access it anytime, anywhere, on any device.

Schedule. With its built-in calendar and planner, this feature makes it easy to select and assign all your favorite lessons to any student group, in minutes. Plan and schedule activities for a day, a week, or a full semester.
