Dear Department,

Welcome to our first research newsletter.

The intent of this newsletter is threefold: to communicate important research related topics, to announce achievements within the Department, and to serve as a resource for scientists and those interested in scientific inquiry.

We welcome feedback and would like to hear from you about sections you would like added, changed, or omitted.

Furthermore, the newsletter will be tightly linked to our new and evolving research website.

Everyone is invited, including postdocs and research assistants. It will feature a keynote lecture by Dr. Stuart Forman , Director of the Harvard Anesthesia Fellowship Training Program (T32), include several presentations about resources within the research community (Electronic Lab Notebook, Biobank, iHub & more), plenty of time for networking and socializing , and an exciting speed networking for scientists event .

Dr. Simon Gelman

"Dr. Gelman is the third largest lifetime donor to the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER). His dedication is a reflection of not only of his belief in the pursuit of excellence in anesthesiology research, but also his humble beginnings. At the age of 82, he is a devoted husband, father of two sons and the grandfather to six grandchildren. Though he has more than a 130 visiting professorships and more than 200 publications, he continues working full-time. He has been the editor of several well-known anesthesia journals and has a named lecture and fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Both at the University of Alabama and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital has a named endowed chair."

LabArchives
Partners is moving to electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) effective October 1, 2019 and have selected LabArchives. LabArchives is a web-based application designed for organizing, documenting, and sharing research data and record-keeping activities with teams, departments, and external collaborators.  

The next training will be Tuesday April 23 from 1:30-3:00pm in the Thorn 13 conference room.
