Message from Jenessa and Monique
Happy New Year!
Hope you all had a blessed Christmas and New Year!
We so enjoyed celebrating and collaborating with many of you at our Holiday Celebration last month. Check out some pictures of our time together on our facebook page here .
Thanks again to Fresno Christian Reformed for donating the beautiful space for us to gather in. We appreciate your generosity!

Students are READING!
We have been so impressed with the progress students are making! We collected official midyear data at three schools (Kirk, Lincoln, and Hamilton Elementary- to see that data click here) b ut we have seen growth across ALL of the classrooms thanks to your time and dedication!
Teachers are so thankful for all of your help too. Ms. Rice at Mt View Elementary summed you all up well when she said "They are FABULOUS!"

"Y ou will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God."

Literacy Mentor Spotlight
Bill Johnson
Wolters Elementary, University Presbyterian Church

Bill has been a Literacy Mentor at Wolters Elementary since Fall 2017. After about six months at Wolters, he sought opportunities to share his math and music background and soon began tutoring in 5th grade as well.
In December he did a hammered dulcimer presentation for the class- in which he incorporated fractions, divisions, rhythm, and even some history. What a neat way to share your passion and gifting!
What is your favorite thing about volunteering at Wolters?
Seeing students finally get a word or concept they have been struggling with. I like to see their success.

What is your hope for Wolters Students?
I hope Wolters students, or any person, will gain the desire and ability to learn throughout life such that they can take care of themselves through their ability to comprehend, process and then act on future information and circumstances in a reasonable way.

What was your favorite book as a child?
I liked the STEM oriented Tom Swift series of books which featured a young guy who understands science and invents things to make life better.

Who was an encouraging adult in your life as a child?
Other than parents, it would have to be band teachers from grade school through high school, especially the ever patient and encouraging Jr High School band director who gave me confidence.

What is your favorite Bible verse?
Treat others as you want to be treated yourself.
