After a season of thoughtful change and transition, we are happy to share a few updates from Cambridge Camping.

First, we want to thank Gordo Littlefield for her time at CCA and for the work she contributed during an important period in our organization’s evolution. We wish her all the best in what comes next.

We are also pleased to welcome Jane Hirschi as CCA’s Interim Executive Director. Jane brings deep nonprofit leadership experience in Cambridge, a steady hand, and a strong understanding of mission-driven organizations. She will help ensure that our staff and Board have the support they need to do their best work and that our programs continue to thrive.

At the same time, after 10 years as Executive Director, Sharon Zimmerman has stepped into a new role as Senior Director of Strategy and Development. This shift reflects the direction CCA is heading and allows Sharon to focus on strategic growth, fundraising, partnerships, and helping to shape the future of the organization.

Under the longstanding leadership of Board Chair Sonia Turek, our Board of Directors has remained deeply committed throughout this period of change, putting in enormous time, care, and effort to help set CCA on a strong path forward. These changes reflect a thoughtful next step for CCA and position us well for the work ahead.

There is a lot happening at CCA, and the energy is real.

CCAccess campership programming is off to an incredible start. We have placed 140 children in camp for summer 2026, and that number continues to grow. Families are reaching out early, camp partnerships are strong, and we are seeing tremendous momentum as we help more children access life-changing summer experiences.

We are especially excited about several extraordinary opportunities for youth. Through a new partnership with SeaWorld San Antonio, young people will be able to participate in a one-of-a-kind overnight experience focused on marine science, animal care, and hands-on learning. Through partnerships with The Aloha Foundation and Princeton University, campers will have access to an exceptional tuition-free three-week overnight camp experience that would typically cost $9,000 per child. Opportunities like these do more than get kids to camp. They expand horizons, build confidence, and open doors to new possibilities.

We are also making exciting progress with CCBound, our new camp-readiness overnight program. CCBound is a one-week overnight experience offered three times a year, during February school vacation, April school vacation, and again in late August. It is designed for children who are new to overnight camp and need a supportive first step before jumping into a longer summer placement. With camp partners already in place and enrollment beginning for our first late-August session, CCBound is becoming an important bridge for children who need time, support, and encouragement to get ready for overnight camp success.

And our Village Building Series is already making an impact. This year alone, we have brought families together for enriching opportunities, including culturally relevant live theater outings, a family financial literacy program, and a healthy family cooking class. These programs are not extras. They build trust, strengthen community, reinforce confidence and learning, and keep families connected to CCA all year long.

Our 2025 strategic planning process gave us the time and space to take a close look at what families need most and where we can make the greatest impact. What has emerged is a stronger program model and the infrastructure to support it. We are proud of how much is already underway and excited about what it means for the children and families we serve.
