Support Local Pathways to Higher Education
The Chula Vista Bachelor’s Degree Act (AB 664) is moving through the State Legislature and would authorize Southwestern College to offer four new workforce-aligned bachelor’s degree programs. These programs were selected based on regional labor market needs, helping prepare students for 147 high-priority occupations in our community.
AB 664 would create affordable, local pathways to career advancement, with community college bachelor’s degrees estimated to cost about $10,000 for all four years — a fraction of the cost of traditional university programs. This initiative helps students stay local, reduce debt, and meet the growing workforce needs of our region.
