Good Design Motivates.
Every summer my Instructional Design Team and I set aside time to review our Signature Series (Future Ready Leadership) day by day. Our methodology includes;

  • reviewing feedback from participants, their leaders, and our facilitators
  • refreshing content, activities, and resource material
  • adding new, relevant content and resources to reflect current organizational issues
  • returning to core competencies and ensuring they are front and centre in the learning outcomes
  • checking for flow – throughout each day – and connectedness between days
  • and, ensuring our programs are interactive, dynamic, and fun!

Although we are constantly updating material throughout the year as we receive feedback and/or suggestions for new resources, this dedicated time allows us to really focus on creating the best overall program for our participants at every level.

Why do we do this when our Future Ready Leadership programs are so positively received already? Because, as our values state, we believe in being client-centric. We exist for and because of our clients. We owe it to them to reflect on what is important to them in our training. We are committed to excellence. We aren’t perfect; but we strive to be, resulting in a culture of continuous improvement. We value diverse perspectives; those of our clients, our participants, our facilitators, and our MCE team.

So how do we attain diverse perspectives? We collect feedback through our evaluation process every day of every program. We hold feedback sessions over zoom. We solicit opinions through surveys such as our recent ROI survey (Return on Investment) and our current Fire Services Survey. We also research, continually. We stay current by reading, listening, attending webinars, and inviting others to share their ideas with us through leadership panels and other learning opportunities.

We strongly believe all of the above results in the best possible program for our Future Ready leaders. It also serves another purpose – identifying needs from other sectors. As a result, we are launching a series of asynchronous, self-taught courses for the Transportation Industry. We are also in the process of determining the need for a Future Ready program geared specifically to Fire Services. Please see below for more information on both these initiatives.

Thank you for reading.

Returning on Your Training Investment
We asked our previous graduates about their learning experiences across our Signature Series of Future Ready Leadership programs - Essentials, Level 1 and 2. Data was collected via a SurveyMonkey survey sent in early 2022.

A final copy of this report will be released for the August newsletter. In the meantime, we did find an ever-emerging leadership theme that helped us with our Fall Seasonal Series; the need to manage heightened Emotional Intelligence!

Thank you for your participation in our survey. More to come.
What's Up and Coming

'Asyncing' our Learning Management System
MCE's 'Shorts' Series is where we are populating our asynchronous learning options. Right now, you'll see our 'Buddy to Boss' course, with an introduction to 'Amazing Customer Service' about to be released.

Also soon to be released are our industry-specific courses for truck drivers, 'Life on the Road' and 'Time Management for Drivers'. As you'll read more about below, our team is always on the lookout to design industry-specific, highly-customized leadership training with built-in growth and retention strategies.
Surveying Firefighters
Meeting the leadership needs of specific industries is one of our guiding design principles. When an opportunity arises to design training for a specific group of people, we are the first to express our interest in customizing content.

We have been consulting with leaders in firefighting, and have been fortunate enough to have the encouragement of our friend, Firefighter and Future Ready Leadership 2 participant, Jamie Rychard, to help us devise a SURVEY for industry leaders to help construct the basis of a Fire-Focused Leadership Training course. So all firefighters who may be reading, we would love you to contribute to our survey for the benefit of the firefighting industry. Thank you!

Book Review: Braiding Sweetgrass
Some of our readers have been requesting the return of book reviews. As avid readers, we happily oblige.

This month, we suggest 'Braiding Sweetgrass'; a much-needed awakening of our ecological consciousness that requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world. It brings an understanding of the generosity of the earth, and how we can learn to give our own gifts in return. Happy reading. 📖
