This monthly newsletter is your guide to how your church can engage with Beth-El in food justice, farmworker justice, and building relationships with our neighbors.

Together we live out the Matthew 25 call to build congregational vitality, dismantle racism, and fight poverty.

As we celebrate Beth-El’s 50th anniversary, explore the links, especially the bulletin-ready section below, to share these opportunities and the #50ActsOfLove with your congregation.

Church Partner Spotlight

Every month, the faithful mission team from First Presbyterian Church of Sarasota shows up ready to serve.

On Wednesday mornings, you’ll find them repackaging fresh fruits and vegetables, packing rice and beans, and helping with the many tasks that keep our food pantry running.

Because of their consistency, generosity, and joyful spirit, thousands of farmworker families have access to food each week.

We are deeply grateful for this partnership in ministry.

Faith & Justice Reflection

God’s Love in Action: Caring for Our World

Scripture: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

— John 3:16

Reflection

Jesus reminds Nicodemus that God’s love is not limited to a few people—it is for the whole world. God’s plan is not to condemn the world but to save it through Christ. When we receive this love, we are invited to live differently: to pray, care, and work for the well-being of our neighbors, migrants, and all people who suffer from injustice.

Reflection Questions for Your Church

  • What would our community look like if our everyday interactions reflected our belief that God loves the whole world?
  • What does it mean to live in a way that reflects God’s love for people across every border, language, and nation?

Breath Prayer

Inhale: God of love, fill my heart.

Exhale: Help me love the world.

Note: This reflection is based on a sermon shared by the pastor of Nuevo Camino,

Rev. Tamara Leonard-Lara, on 03/08/2026, and is adapted for this written devotion.

3 Ways Your Church Can Engage in Transformational Ministry This Month

Whether it’s your mission committee, youth group, small group, families, or individuals, here are three simple ways your church can live out its faith this week—supporting food justice, farmworker families, and welcoming the neighbor and the stranger.

  1. Collect and Donate 50 long sleeve shirts to protect farm and outdoor workers from the sun. Extra points for UV/Protection Shirts!
  2. Share the 2026 Wish List with your church's missions committee.
  3. Ensure food security, collect 50 Tuna or Chicken Salad Kits with crackers.

Volunteer Opportunities

Early Bird Food Rescuer

Is this you? Our food rescue drivers are like breakfast superheroes—zooming between 7:30 am and 9:30 am, swooping up donations from stores faster than pancakes disappear on Sunday morning!

Can-Do Organizers

Help keep the food market full by restocking fruits, vegetables, and canned food between clients so everyone can fill their carts and leave happy!

Thrifty Treasure Hunters

Dive into bags of clothes, shoes, and goodies (some dusty, some sparkling) to find the gems our community will love. Your superpower? Turning a pile of donations into a neat, happy closet that makes everyone smile.
