This four week class is an introduction to the medium of watercolor. We will learn about watercolor materials and techniques, such as manipulating the brush and controlling water flow. We will explore color mixing, washes and glazes, resist, negative painting, wet-on-wet, and dry brush. Composition, perspective, line, value and texture will also be discussed as we develop original paintings.
We will paint from Spring themed still life, landscape photos and
our imagination.
Classes will consist of brief explanation or demonstration followed by a painting session.
Watercolor is a versatile medium that can be used to create highly detailed images or loose splashes of colors.
Remember that what your painting looks like is always up to you. Hopefully at the end of the class you will have gained a deeper understanding of the medium and be inspired to express your creativity.
