Salaries for Blockchain engineers are skyrocketing, now on par with AI experts
  • Blockchain engineers are making between $150,000 and $175,000 annually on average.
  • Blockchain engineers are top paid roles in software development, on par with specialists focused on Artificial Intelligence.
  • Demand for Blockchain engineers has increased by 400 percent since late 2017 according to Hired, a firm that helps clients recruit tech candidates.
Engineers who want to specialize in Blockchain should know networking, database design and cryptography computing skills, according to multiple Blockchain engineers. Blockchain engineers code in a variety of programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C++, Go, Solidity and Python, among others. Source

Cyber Saturday—Facebook Hack, Spotify Data Prying, China Election Meddling

Facebook faced, by its own estimation, 50 million potential account takeovers. What makes the situation worse is that these tokens can provide access to other linked services: Instagram, news sites, games, etc. Anything to which people have connected via a Facebook login could have been vulnerable.

The major lesson from this mistake is to NEVER - or almost never - use a social media login to access other online services.

For a review of which services are connected to your Facebook account, take the following steps. Visit “Settings,” then click “Apps and Websites.” You can manage permissions here. If you’re worried about having to remember myriad passwords, use password management software.

Remember: every linkage is a potential point of vulnerability. Cybersecurity professionals call this concept network segmentation, and it is one of their fundamental principles . Source
Why Add Data Privacy Training?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which went into effect on May 25th of this year, changed the data privacy landscape globally, including for many US companies. In fact, 52% of CIOs from the largest US companies responded in a survey that they possess data about EU citizens which makes them subject to GDPR. It does not stop with this EU-based law as data privacy laws have persisted in the US for decades – CAN-SPAM, HIPPA, COPPA, FERPA, and many, many more.

With data becoming more important to business success, it is also seeing its greatest levels of regulation. Data protection is no longer an afterthought as more organizations face increased cybersecurity threats and the potential of severe penalties when data is compromised. The most recent example is UBER, which was fined $148,000,000 in September of 2018 for concealing data in its 2016 breach.

Over this past year, Dr.  James Stanger   has consulted with IT pros and management worldwide about essential pen testing techniques and best practices. He’s noticed three common threads in his conversations. The first is that cybersecurity professionals and executive managers continue to struggle with explaining why penetration testing is important in the first place. The second is that the industry remains mired in the “defender’s dilemma” mode of thinking when it comes to pentesting. The third is that pen testing has suffered from seriously-outmoded thinking in the (post) modern IoT, SCADA and perimeterless world in which we now live.

Is Pentesting really necessary? A look into the current demand and opportunities with James Stanger.
PenTest+ is a hot new certification! Penetration Testers are in high demand with a median annual salary of $98,000.
