2019 ReadyNation Federal Accomplishments in Congress and at the White House:

ReadyNation Members Discussed the Child Care Crisis at the White House and Across the Country: On the heels of our well-publicized national report about the child care crisis, our members discussed bi-partisan policy solutions at several regional round tables and at a March congressional briefing. Four of our members also participated in the December White House Summit Supporting Working Parents.

10 Percent Funding Increase for Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG): In a February 2019 letter to Congress, 55 senior executives across industries from around the country outlined the case for increased funding for CCDBG. Many of these ReadyNation member signatories also contacted key Members of Congress directly.

$55 Million Increase for HeadStart: ReadyNation members raised their voice in support of increased investments in quality for the HeadStart program.

$25 Million Increase for Preschool Development Grants Birth Through Five Program: Serves to create quality preschool and early childhood education.

Review of 2019 State Policy Victories:

ReadyNation members helped to win more than $3 billion (across 17 states) for quality, research-based investments in children and youth. Below are some of those victories:

Texas: $780 million allocated for full-day pre-K and other early reading and math strategies

California: $768 million to improve childcare and kindergarten

Oregon: $400 million for education resulting in the largest education investment in almost 30 years

Colorado: $175 million investment to fund full-day kindergarten

Pennsylvania: $160 million increase to help close uneven funding gaps between school districts

Ohio: $130 million in new state funds for child protection

Maine: $115 million in new support for public, pre-K-12 education

Illinois: $100 million to improve existing and build new early childhood facilities

New Jersey: $68 million to expand/support preschool and offer wraparound services

New Mexico: $43 million for home visiting, child care, pre-K, and early intervention programs

New York: $41 million for child care subsidies and pre-k

Wisconsin: $26 million increase in child-care subsidies and home visiting
