Friends and Colleagues,

As we begin a new chapter in our nation’s leadership, it is an important time to acknowledge upcoming changes and reaffirm our commitment to the values that have guided our roles as educators for decades. Our shared commitment to putting students first is integral to the missions of The RP Group and the California Community Colleges.

We recognize that the incoming administration will likely advance many changes that will impact communities that rely on the protections and progress achieved through years of organizing and advocacy. Some of these challenges are already evident, and there will likely be others that seek to roll back hard-won advancements in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

However, we remain resolute in our belief that these principles are foundational to the educational experience and the success of all students. The systemic barriers that have long hindered equitable access to higher education cannot, and will not, be ignored or justified.

  • Our Mission, Vision, and Values, Code of Ethics, and Commitment to EDI are not just statements on paper; they are the guiding principles that inform everything we do. We are centered on championing equity and antiracism, working in collaboration with our communities, and ensuring that the voices of students are heard, valued, and acted upon.

  • Our research and professional development, particularly in a time of such shifting political and social landscapes, will remain steadfastly focused on advancing student success and equity, especially for those who have been historically marginalized.

We won’t be alone in these efforts.

  • Our community partners – students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators – remain committed to improving access and promoting opportunity for all Californians.

While the road ahead may be challenging, it is also full of opportunities to demonstrate the strength of our values and our collective voice. We stand together with all those who are committed to creating a future where a student’s background does not determine their potential for success.

Thank you for your continued support and for standing with us in this important work. Together, we will face the challenges ahead and continue to fight for an inclusive, just, and equitable future for California Community College students.

In community,
