Last week, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) issued a statement reaffirming the state Constitution’s guarantee of a system of public schools to educate all children of the state.
In alignment with NYSED, I wanted to inform you that our school district has and will continue to uphold federal and state laws along with Board policy. The District is committed to providing an educational environment that promotes respect, dignity, and equality in accordance with New York State's Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). This means that no student shall be treated differently or unfairly because of actual and/or perceived differences, including but not limited to different races, weights, national origins, ethnic groups, religions, religious practices, mental or physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identity, and sexes. More information on DASA can be found on our website.
Explicit in our district’s mission is to provide a learning community that is distinguished by a safe, supportive environment of respect and collaboration. We remain unwavering in our commitment to this mission.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or any administrator with any questions that may arise.
For the youth,
Dr. DeSa
