Meet Nickel!
This adorable pup came to the NMB Humane Society after the heartbreaking loss of his beloved owner, leaving him without the warm home he once knew. Just when they thought things couldn't get any tougher for Nickel, he tested positive for heartworms and had to undergo treatment to get back on the path to health. Nickel is ready to put the bad luck behind him and start fresh with someone who can show him the love and stability he deserves.
Nickel is the epitome of sweetness - with his soulful eyes and gentle demeanor, he's sure to capture your heart from the moment you meet him. While he may be a little bashful at first, it doesn't take long for Nickel to warm up and show his true colors. Nickel has made friends with some female dogs and needs a home with no cats.

CELEBRATE PRETZEL DAY ON SATURDAY, APRIL 26!
Pretzels arrived in the U.S. with German settlers in Pennsylvania, where they quickly became a favorite snack and a local specialty. Pennsylvania still leads the country in pretzel production—and while the average American eats about 2 pounds of pretzels a year, Pennsylvanians average around 12!
National Pretzel Day was first recognized in Pennsylvania in 2003 and has since become a nationwide celebration. Whether you like them soft, salty, or sweet, it's the perfect excuse to enjoy one of America's most beloved snacks.
The Strawberry Pretzel Salad recipe below is a springtime favorite of mine!

The salty crunch of the pretzel crust, the creamy blend of Cool Whip and cream cheese, and the fruity Jell-O topping come together in perfect harmony. With layers of flavor and texture in every bite, it’s easy to see why this classic keeps making a comeback! | | |
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups crushed pretzels (about 8 ounces)
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons sugar
FILLING:
- 2 cups whipped topping
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sugar
TOPPING:
- 2 packages (3 ounces each) strawberry gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 packages (16 ounces each) frozen sweetened sliced strawberries, thawed
Optional: Additional whipped topping and pretzels

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350°. In a bowl, combine the pretzels, butter and sugar. Press into an ungreased 13x9-in. baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
- For filling, in a small bowl, beat whipped topping, cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Spread over pretzel crust. Refrigerate until chilled.
- For topping, dissolve gelatin in boiling water in a large bowl. Stir in sweetened strawberries; refrigerate until partially set. Carefully spoon over filling. Refrigerate until firm, 4-6 hours. Cut into squares.
- Serve with additional whipped topping and pretzels if desired.
- Enjoy!
