REAP A HARVEST OF ARTS THIS FALL

Fall is traditionally the season where artists of all stripes emerge from their studios to strut their creative stuff. We’ve assembled just some of the seasonal highlights below, starting with two events DAC is proud to be hosting: An evening with “AspieComic” and homegrown-talent Michael McCreary and our second After 5 Art Salon with theatre set decorator Beckie Morris. As the leaves turn from green to gold, you can find many other ways to soak up Dufferin’s rich local arts scene by checking out DAC’s online Arts Events Calendar.

“FUNNY, YOU DON’T LOOK AUTISTIC”

AN EVENING OF COMEDY WITH MICHAEL McCREARY

Since self-described ‘AspieComic’ Michael McCreary was celebrated in In The Hills as one of ‘25 Under 25’ local young people to watch, he’s been featured on CBC’s Laugh Out Loud, performed at the Winnipeg and Halifax comedy festivals, appeared in two TV series, been nominated for a 2026 Canadian Screen Award, and toured his wry wit across North America.

Now he’s coming home for one very funny night!

AFTER 5 ART SALON: SETTING THE STAGE

MEET THEATRE SET DESIGNER BECKIE MORRIS

With imaginative set designs that run from a spooky English manor to a Canadian curling club, and from the depths of a mine in Spring Hill to the tip of an iceberg, Beckie Morris has been transforming the stage at Theatre Orangeville for more than a decade.

Now you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer with appetizers, mingle and learn as Beckie takes you behind the scenes to describe her intense creative journey from the day she has a script in her hands to the moment the lights come up on opening night.

The winner of a Dora Mavor Moore Award for set design, Beckie is also known for her

talents beyond the stage. She is responsible for several of the captivating murals that

decorate Orangeville’s public buildings.

Wednesday, October 7, 5pm to 7pm

Museum of Dufferin/Corbetton Church

Presented by Dufferin Arts Council in partnership with the Museum of Dufferin.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO DAC MEMBERS: Please join us at Corbetton Church at 4pm

EARTH & FIRE: CLAY AND GLASS

Saturday, September 19, 9am to 3pm

This one-day, market-style event at the Museum of Dufferin brings together talented ceramics and glass artists from across Ontario, showcasing handcrafted pottery, blown glass, sculptures, decorative works, and more.

The event includes a silent auction, as well as an opportunity to pre-order a catered picnic lunch to enjoy on the museum grounds. Admission by donation.

This high-energy concert revue takes audiences behind the scenes of the Broadway smash hit, Jersey Boys, revealing how to two small-town Canadian performers went on to play Frankie Valli on stages around the world.

The show, created and performed by Adrian Marchuk and Jeff Madden, will have you rocking to all your Jersey Boys favourites, including “Sherry”, “Walk Like a Man”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”. Click here for tickets.

Creemore’s annual celebration of the arts is back on October 2-4 and, as always, it's packed with music storytelling, gallery shows and open studios.

Along with a feast of visual art, highlights of the weekend include a free, outdoor, multi-media show called Walking Through the Fire, featuring the Sultans of String with award-winning First Nations, Metis and Inuit artists; and a presentation of Eugène Ionesco’s classic absurdist play, The Chairs, starring Mulmur-based performance artist Erika Batdorf and Gemini-nominee Anastasia Phillips.

INTERNATIONAL INTRIGUE COMES TO THE ORANGEVILLE STAGE

BookLore and Theatre Orangeville have teamed up again to host an evening with one of the world’s most celebrated writers of espionage history. British author and historian Ben Macintyre’s remarkable ability to transform meticulously researched history into gripping, page-turning storytelling has earned him an international following.

Macintyre will be discussing his newest book, Redwood, a true-life Cold War story of espionage and betrayal inside the dangerous world of international intelligence.

The entertaining, three-hour, evening broadcast will include music, theatre, dance, live painting, celebrity and VIP appearance, stories from former Streams campers and volunteers, and prize draws, including a trip for two to Saint Lucia.
