Renewing Campus Activism

"Protesting is fun, and your moral authority is why it spreads," Dartmouth Prof. Annelise Orleck told students at a teach-in on the history of the civil rights movement and Dartmouth protests. Orleck compared the arrest of campus demonstrators to the Gaza War. "... beating up your students and faculty...That's almost a mirror image of the obscenely disproportionate

response that Israel is leveling in Gaza."

Presented by the History Dept. at Dartmouth College

Reinflating Joy in the Sky

JAM floated through the 44th annual Quechee Balloon Festival. You might see yourself in this mini-documentary featuring everything from stilt-walkers and fire-dancing to performing pups and the Fred Haas Trio of Hartland. Of course, no one could compete with the real stars of the show—the dozens of levitating, luminous airships that gently ruled the skies. Produced by: JAM's Rick Russell

AMERICA'S PASTIME @JAM

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT @JAM

View Public Meetings

This week's civic highlight: The Hanover public hearing addressed parking fees and the "Allen Street Placemaking Pilot," which began 6/26 and continued 7/1. This initiative closes most of Allen Street to vehicular traffic, turning it into a pedestrian-only area for businesses, buskers, outdoor dining, vendors, and public activities.

Tune into government and school meetings LIVE on JAM cable channels 1075/1085 (Comcast) or 169/170 VTEL, streaming on our website, or JAM's YouTube channel, or find recordings by searching JAM On-Demand for your town's meeting recordings.
