I am pleased to report that RCS was one of the first schools to apply for an Elementary Waiver in Alameda County! The waiver requests for TK-5 students to be allowed to return to campus, in small stable cohorts, for in-person instruction on September 28, 2020 (although we indicated that this date was flexible).
Redwood Christian School's desire is for students to be able to return to campus, a return that is 100% aligned with the guidance and orders issued by Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE), Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD), and the State of California, therefore, we have continued to pivot with each change issued by the County of Alameda and State of California. With each new change of guidance and orders, the RCS Administrative Team has set out to review and revise existing plans in order to meeting the continually changing requirements. Additionally, we seek for our students to return to campus under the safest conditions possible.
The waiver application was turned in on Monday afternoon to ACOE. On Tuesday, ACOE signed off on our application and sent it on for approval from the ACPHD. After approval from ACPHD, the application will be sent on to the for State approval.
Please join me in prayer, asking for favor from ACPHD and the State regarding the plans that RCS has worked to put into place, based upon the guidance issued for schools.
Also, please express your gratitude to Mr. Huemoeller, Miss Sinisi, Mrs. Hendren, and Mr. Kady for their amazing work in preparing the application for the Elementary Waiver!
After receiving the Elementary Waiver, the Administrative Team will turn its attention to focusing upon Middle School and High Students, and being to work towards creating a plan which will allow for them to return to campus in small stable cohorts, under the facilitation of a cohort leader.
