Hello, HBIC family,

We wanted to share an update about the progress on rebuilding after the tornado. As we shared this past Sunday, we have some information about the insurance process:

• Brotherhood Mutual, our insurance company, hired a building consultant who will come as soon as possible after Labor Day to inspect our building. He has seen the photos and reports submitted thus far and will serve as a go-between with the various contractors submitting bids and later doing work.

• Brotherhood Mutual is also hiring a structural engineer to inspect the building and determine what work needs to be done. The consultant will work with that person.

• Many of our prayers have been answered as we work with our insurance company, especially the determination that the interior damage (not including the roof) will be handled at replacement cost as opposed to actual cash value less depreciation. This means that we will receive the money it will cost to replace things today, not the amount they were worth before the damage.

• We are currently in a phase where there aren’t many things we can be doing while we wait on remediation bids and continued evaluations of the building damage.

You are likely wondering about the plans for the affected ministries on Sundays and Wednesdays that would normally be launching soon. We'll share our current plans, knowing that we'll need to be flexible and adjust as needed.

• Due to the lack of gas in the building, we won't be having community meals on Wednesdays at this time.

• Kids Club will resume on Wednesday, September 25 in the Youth and Open Areas.

• Youth Group will resume on Wednesday, September 11 (location TBD).

• Sunday School for kids in grades K-5 will resume on September 1 in both services before the sermon as usual, but classes will meet in the Youth and Open Areas.

• Since our preschool rooms are unusable, the early childhood rooms outside of the sanctuary will be separated as follows on Sunday mornings:
• Nursery - birth to 18 months
• 1 year old room - 18 months up to age 3
• 2 year old room - 3 and 4 year olds (Pre-K)

• The youth will not meet for Sunday School at this time.

Please plan to join us on Tuesday, September 17 for an evening of prayer related to rebuilding and moving forward. We want to come before the Lord together and ask for the grace and strength we need as we minister within our congregation and to our community and beyond! May the Spirit restore and revive us as a church family on the 17th!

Thank you for your support as we continue on this long journey. We have seen God move in big ways already, and we're trusting in the faithfulness of the Lord as we keep following Him.
