Our Mission:
Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities, Rebuilding Lives
Hello Friends,

As we close out 2021, we are filled with immense gratitude for our fabulous RTMC community who have worked tirelessly to bring our mission to life: Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities, Rebuilding Lives.

Thank you to our terrific board members, staff team, donors, volunteers, and community partners for your partnership to serve our neighbors in need. The critical home repairs and accessibility modifications we provide are vital and have allowed hundreds of vulnerable families to remain safely in their homes.

While the ongoing pandemic has certainly presented quite a few challenges, we are proud of the way our RTMC community has come together to adapt, to create new solutions to keep serving our vulnerable neighbors in need, and to thrive despite all of the uncertainty.

During the first year of the pandemic, the RTMC team was forced to adapt our service model but still managed to provide critical home repairs to a record-breaking 178 families in need. Since our fiscal year started on July 1st, our RTMC community has served an additional 70 vulnerable families and we are on pace to help an addition 80 low-income families by June 30, 2022.

Highlights of 2021 also included our September RTMC Rebuilding Day where 400+ volunteers fanned out across the county to transform the lives of 13 families in need, and our annual RTMC Golf Tournament in October that brought out 140+ golfers to raise funds for critical home repairs.

We are filled with hope for 2022 and invite you to join us! Our annual flagship event, National Rebuilding Day, which will take place on April 30/May 1, 2022. We are actively recruiting corporate and faith-based volunteer groups to join us to help 20 vulnerable families in need of critical home repairs. Deadline to sign up is January 31, 2022.

For the many of you have made an end of year donation, THANK YOU! For those who haven’t, there is still time to donate at the link below.

As always, your partnership is much appreciated. Thank you for supporting our mission and making the work of Rebuilding Together Montgomery County possible.

Celebrating Recently Completed Critical Home Repairs
RTMC Homeowner client, Ms. J., pictured above with RTMC team members Joni Keaton and Mat Saunders, is a powerhouse of a woman. She is an immigrant and raised her two children as a single mother in her Silver Spring home, working three jobs to support her family. She is a nurse by trade and takes pride in having always been an incredible advocate for her patients among everything else she was balancing in her life. Mounting repair issues in her home started to take a major toll on her own health, and RTMC stepped in to ensure Ms. J. would continue to be able to live safely in her home. We replaced Ms. J’s roof thanks to PJ’s Roofing, and her HVAC system thanks to Goff Properties, restoring warmth and dryness to her home. VAQ Renovations also helped to stop water intrusion into Ms. J.’s basement by replacing a window well to the basement and digging a drain line away from the well. Previously, Ms. J. would have inches of standing water on the basement floor after it rained. As she has gotten older, Ms. J.’s mobility has also become more limited, and she struggled through numerous falls in her home. We installed grab bars in her shower to help reduce her risk of falling in the future. Thank you to our partners at Donohoe Construction for taking on the final few repairs in Ms. J.’s home, working in partnership with Precision Wall Tech and Ruppert Landscaping. They replaced and painted a brand-new front door for Ms. J. and landscaped her backyard to help prevent water from pooling around the foundation in the future. Revitalizing Ms. J.’s home was a true labor of love, and we are so grateful for all our partners who came together to ensure Ms. J. will continue to be safe and healthy in her home for years to come. Ms. J. was so impressed by the professionalism and communication shown throughout the process, and we are grateful to be able to provide such high-quality services to our homeowners.
RTMC Homeowner client, Ms. H., is a lovely senior lady who has been living in her home in Silver Spring for more than 50 years. As she has gotten older her mobility has become more limited, and she feared falling down while getting in and out of the shower. Two of our long-time volunteers, John Vilgos and Scot Weeks, collaborated to install a grab bar in Ms. H.’s shower. Because of how her shower is built they could not install traditional grab bars along the wall, but thanks to some creative thinking, they were able to come up with a solution for her by installing a grab bar along the side of the tub! We are so grateful to our amazing volunteers for the work they do to keep our homeowners safe.
RTMC Homeowner client, Ms. H. is a veteran living in Derwood with several of her children and her grandchild. When both her oven and cooktop stopped working, RTMC stepped in to replace both appliances. Ms. H. can now continue to prepare food safely for herself and her family. She was especially grateful that she was able to prepare Christmas dinner this year using her brand-new oven and cooktop.
