We are also excited to announce the launch of our fabulous new website! We look forward to sharing more stories about our wonderful volunteers, homeowners, and community of supporters. Special thanks to Joni Keaton, RTMC Development and Communication Coordinator, for her leadership to bring our new website to fruition.

Below we share stories of several homeowners and the critical home repairs they received that change their lives. As always, we are so grateful for our volunteers and contractor partners who make these repairs possible. With your help, RTMC has served 78 low-income families so far this fiscal year and we are on pass to meet our goal of serving 150 vulnerable families by June 30, 2022.

As always, your partnership is much appreciated. Thank you for supporting our mission and making the work of Rebuilding Together Montgomery County possible.
All the best,
Maury Peterson

Celebrating Recently Completed Critical Home Repairs
Thank you to the amazing volunteers from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Gaithersburg who recently changed the life of RTMC Homeowner, Ms. M., (pictured above) a single mom of two children living in Gaithersburg. This project was a true labor of love and the group truly transformed Ms. M.'s home. Critical repairs including construction of new railings to safely enter the home, sump pump repairs, electrical work, power washing the siding, repairs to fences and addition of new gates, fridge repair, yard cleanup, and so much more! Special thanks to House Captains Don Mullins and Jim Mann and Volunteer Coordinators Dennis and Peggy Luther for their leadership.
RTMC Homeowner client, Ms. H., (pictured above) has lived in her home in Gaithersburg for more than 20 years. Over the years, home maintenance has become difficult for her to keep up with. Recently, a group of terrific volunteers from Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church completed extensive repairs for Ms. H. to ensure she would be able to continue living safely in her home. The group installed new kitchen flooring so she would no longer have to walk around on the exposed concrete slab and repaired broken lighting to ensure she would be able to move around without fear of falling. They also bought her a new fridge, re-caulked her bathtub, re-secured her sink vanity, cleaned out her gutters, power-washed her deck, and completed yardwork and debris removal. After the project was complete, Ms. H. began attending services at their church down the road. Thanks to the dedication of GPC's volunteers, Ms. H. is not only safer at home, but has a new connection to her community!
RTMC homeowner client, Ms. W., (pictured above) was raised in Kensington and resides in her childhood home. She worked as a crossing guard for Montgomery County Public Schools for 30 years and recently retired. We are glad that after so many years of serving her community, Ms. W.’s community came together to give back to her. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers at Saint Mark Presbyterian Church, Holy Cross Catholic Church, and Bethesda United Church of Christ for their hard work at Ms. W.'s home. Volunteers replaced the downstairs toilet, replaced a broken window, repaired trim around several damaged windows, replaced the kitchen sink faucet, installed a ceiling fan in the kitchen, painted her kitchen and downstairs bathroom, cleaned the gutters, power washed the siding, removed vines growing around the home, and planted flowerbeds. “It’s changed my whole life,” Ms. W. told us during our final RTMC staff visit with her. We are so happy that Ms. W. will be able to enjoy her retirement in a safe and healthy home!

Thank You, Mallick Plumbing & Heating and Clarksburg Plumbing, for Helping an 89-Year-Old Veteran in Need!
We can’t thank the phenomenal teams from Mallick Plumbing and Heating and Clarksburg Plumbing enough for coming to the rescue of RTMC Homeowner client, Mr. R., an 89-year-old Korean War Veteran, who had a major water leak at his house. With their swift action in very cold weather, the teams excavated the yard to repair and replace the leaking pipe. Special thanks to Kenny Howe at Mallick Plumbing and Heating and Katie and JR Byrd at Clarksburg Plumbing for their amazing generosity to donate the entire cost of the repair as a way to honor Mr. R. for his service to our country.

We received a lovely thank you letter from Mr. R. which said, “THANK YOU so very much for all of the help you and your team have given us, at a time it was so desperately needed. A THANK YOU is hardly sufficient to express how I feel and my deep gratitude for everything you have done to help me at this time in my life. Please share my gratitude with your staff, your volunteers, and your contractors that have been so helpful with sharing their gifts with me. May God Bless Everyone!”
