Our Mission:
Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities and Rebuilding Lives
A Note From Our Executive Director, Maury Peterson
Hello Friends,

We did it! The RTMC Team set an audacious goal to provide critical home repairs to a record-breaking 178 vulnerable homeowners this fiscal year (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021) and TODAY we achieved our goal! Our work impacted over 400 neighbors in need and helped to improve the health and safety of their homes during the pandemic. Pictured above is our team celebrating our milestone with the Castro Family, our 178th homeowner served.

Our success was truly a group effort and I want to express my gratitude to our RTMC Board of Directors, led by Nancy Floreen, for their dedication and leadership. Our small but mighty RTMC Team are the folks who made it happen: Lindsay Luhn, Senior Program Manager, Bob Goff, Construction Manager, Joni Keaton, AmeriCorps Client Outreach Coordinator, Kristen Miller, AmeriCorps Project Coordinator, Mat Saunders, Home Assessment and Project Coordinator, Christina Devlin, Officer Manager, Alyssa Stagno, Finance Guru, and Carol Shoemaker, our ace executive assistant volunteer.

The pandemic forced us to pivot and change up our model from partnering with volunteers to provide the critical repairs to engaging contractor partners to complete the work. We are indebted to our contractor partners who stepped up to serve our homeowners over the last year: Goff Properties, JML Remodeling, Inc., VAQ Renovations, Atlantida Builders, Get-A-Grip Construction Services, Strategies for Independent Living, GAC Services, Central Exteriors, A3 Home Improvements, Spartan Electric Company, PJ’s Roofing, and Mallick Plumbing & Heating.

Of course, none of the work would be possible without YOU, our tremendous community of volunteers, donors and supporters. Thank you for believing in RTMC and supporting our mission of Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities, Rebuilding Lives.

As we take a moment to celebrate our success, I am reminded that our work is far from over. The need for our services is great and we have many more vulnerable homeowners waiting to be served. If you’d like to help, today is the last day to TRIPLE MATCH your donation, thanks to a generous donor.
All the best,
Maury Peterson Signature

Celebrating Phase II of Becky's House
We celebrate the newly renovated Becky’s House, an Interfaith Works program that provides a safe place for eight formerly homeless women to call home. Rebuilding Together Montgomery County is proud to have led these life-changing renovations. We recently celebrated a wonderful reveal with Interfaith Works CEO Courtney Hall, State Senator Ben Kramer, State Senator Cheryl C. Kagan, Becky's House Founder Becky Wagner, Interfaith Works Board Chair Devang Shah and Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass and teams from Southern Management, Kind Works and Transformation Contractor, LLC

Special thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make it happen! Together we can work to ensure that homelessness is rare, brief and nonrecurring in Montgomery County. If you want to take on other feel-good projects like this one, consider making an impact on the lives of others by volunteering with RTMC!

Keeping Up With The Program Team
We had a month full of star ceremonies! Our team hosts star ceremonies when we complete all critical repairs for our neighbors in need. Some of our close-outs included Mr. P, an elderly man who needed three windows replaced; Ms. A, a woman who runs an at-home daycare with her son; and Ms. M, who is now safer because her back steps were waterproofed to reduce the risk of falling. One of our homeowners, Mr. B, is a darling sweet man who was very hands-on in helping our construction supervisor, Bob Goff, with some accessibility modifications in his home. We were also able to fix some electrical sockets in his home. It was delightful to see his satisfaction with the repairs received from RTMC.

Cheers to 30 Years!
ReCap of RTMC's 30 Year Anniversary
We held a celebration for our 30 year anniversary of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives! For 30 years our team has been dedicated to our mission of preserving affordable housing and providing free critical repairs to low-income homeowners. Our community certainly showed up for us, as we gathered with volunteers, contractors, and past/present board members. To view all of the photos from our celebration, click here!
