Dear Fellow Republicans,
Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón must be recalled due to his disastrous weak on crime policies which are negatively impacting residents of Los Angeles county. A Lancaster mother and her boyfriend who tortured and killed her 10-year-old son will not face the death penalty in trial, which has infuriated prosecutors. Gascón’s agenda is anti-victim and pro-criminal. According to the LAPD Headquarters, as of May 23, 2021, violent crimes are up 5.5%, homicides are up 22.2%, and shootings have increased by 66.3% compared to 2020. Gascón’s progressive policies will continue to exacerbate these issues by incentivizing criminals to commit crimes. Fifteen cities in LA county have issued a vote of “No Confidence” in Gascón: Covina, La Mirada, Pico-Rivera, Whittier, Santa Clarita, Lancaster, Beverly Hills, Rosemead, Azusa, Santa Fe Springs, Diamond Bar, Redondo Beach, Arcadia, Manhattan Beach, and Palos Verdes Estates. It is important to note that many of these cities are controlled by Democrats with majority-minority demographics.
Voters approved a ballot proposition to keep cash bail, yet Gascón went against voters and instituted cashless bail. Gascón’s policies guarantee every murderer a parole hearing every 20-30 years. According to Gascón’s juvenile justice policy, violent offenders (who are of the age 17 years and 11 months old) will not be held in custody longer than age 35, even for vicious crimes. Gascón promised a “victim-centered” justice system, and yet refuses to meet with victims and their families. Additionally, Gascón removed sentence enhancements, which will lead to criminals becoming emboldened to commit crimes. Lastly, repeat violent offenders (murders, rapists, robbers, kidnappers, sex offenders) are treated as first time offenders in new felony cases. According to Gascón, “It’s unfortunate that some people do not have enough education to keep their mouth shut.” He said this to a grieving mother of a murdered child. Angelinos, do we really want someone without empathy towards the victims running our criminal justice system?
It is essential that ALL communities in LA County are safe and it is imperative that we have a legal system that protects victims over criminals. Sign up to volunteer to recall Gascón!
