During 2020, we raised more than AED 585,000 (USD 160,000) from fundraising activities and donations, which will benefit more than 1,900 children across our global charity projects.

2021 marks our 20th Anniversary which we will be announcing exciting plans for very soon and look forward to inviting you to celebrate with us!
The success of Gulf for Good during one of its most challenging years is entirely owed to the loyal support of our community and key corporate partners in our joint-mission to support children in need around the world.

In addition to our charity challengers, key corporate partners have continued to play a vital part in Gulf for Good’s fundraising efforts with the likes of Kibsons’, who through its online customers and own donation, raised funds to build a playground and football pitch in the Ugandan town of Kisoro. Towards the end of 2020 Kibsons launched a second online campaign to build a classroom for Maasai children with disabilities and help reduce the teacher to student ratio for Enjoro School in Tanzania, in partnership with Foundation for African Empowerment (FAE).

This project has also been supported by 45 challengers who climbed the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro in 2019. Here's some of the latest photos of this wonderful project, which has been an absolute pleasure to be involved with and to see grow over the past few years. You can view more photos at our Facebook page here.
We have also hosted corporate challenges and hikes for a number of corporate partners during 2020, including Omnicom Media Group and GAC Dubai. Other 2020 corporate partners included EnviroServe, OJ Lifestyle, Kaspersky, Munch On, ZEN Interiors, ShopRetold, Vaasara, NAFSI, Gymnation, and James Berry & Associates, with YAS Media providing printing sponsorship during the year.

For 2021, we are preparing to launch a Ramadan fundraising campaign and welcome corporate partners to get in touch. If you would like to get your company involved, please email louise@gulf4good.org.
To counter the impact that global travel restrictions have had on our annual charity challenges, we launched a series of virtual challenges in 2020. These saw 188 people climb the height of the Burj Khalifa in May, 64 people trek Kilimanjaro for Larchfield in Tanzania, and over 150 people walk the length of the Lebanese Mountain Trail for the Lebanese Red Cross, all from the comfort of their own home.

During the UAE National Day weekend, 20 keen cyclists took to the mountains of the Eastern Emirates in aid of the Chicuchas Wasi, a comprehensive primary school for impoverished indigenous girls in Peru, and the United Nations World Relief Agency. 19 Challengers and 1 Challenge Rep raised over 54,000 AED, including Mr Vishal Venkat, who first did a Gulf for Good challenge in 2001 - an incredible feat achieved by all! The same challenge was also taken on by Omnicom Media Group to raise funds for Nusaned in Lebanon.

We endevour to go ahead with our international challenges as much as we possibly can in 2021, however in the event that this is not possible due to travel restrictions, we will run a series of virtual challenges again to continue fundraising for our charity projects. Run for Beirut: Five months after the tragic blast in Beirut, which left over 300,000 people injured, more than 6,500 homeless and 204 dead, Valérie Fagerholt-Ramadan, ASICS Frontrunner UAE, was compelled to organise a virtual run for beginners to the elite in an attempt to unite runners from around the world. Their plight was to raise funds in support of the Lebanese Red Cross who in turn continue to help those affected by the explosion. 30 participants took part in either the Marathon 42.2km, half-Marathon 21.1km, 10km or 5km distance undertaking as a race or run, depending on how they wanted to challenge themselves and their running buddies. Between them raising almost AED 5000. Running for a cause - Thank you Valérie & friends!
Last year we hosted 999 people on 17 hikes in the northern Emirates, and 54 training sessions which included beach yoga and stair climbs. Our experienced Outdoor First Aid-certified guides led weekend hikes that range from moderate to demanding levels, from four to 20km in length.
Last year also saw the establishment of our partner social enterprise, Thrift for Good, the passion project of Gulf for Good’s previous Operations Manager Jen Sault. Launching as an online venture in April, its first shop opened in November on The Palm Jumeirah, dedicating at least 50 per cent of funds raised to Gulf for Good.

“The success of Thrift for Good since opening our physical store has been phenomenal and has allowed us to fulfill our commitment to reduce waste and raise even more funds for children around the world in partnership with Gulf for Good,” Jen Sault, founder of Thrift for Good said. “We have already raised significant funds to support the charity’s projects and are appreciative of the community who have cheered us on during our initial opening period.”

We would love to invite you to join us at our next event:

Venue: The Golden Mile Walking Track behind the Thrift for Good store, Golden Mile Building 8, Floor B1
