Recap of the TIG on-the-ground Trip

Every year a group of TIG supporters travels to India to work with our families and immerse themselves in Indian culture. 

This hands-on approach is what makes TIG unique: we spend time with every child, family, school, and tutor. This year’s group was a combination of seasoned visitors and first-time India travelers. We kept a very busy schedule, visiting 6 locations to see our families. 

This trip we learned a great deal about the grading system, which will help us make better-informed decisions about our kids. We had daily group discussions about options for managing different situations. Our new travelers provided fresh perspectives and ideas. We spent time with our families in their homes, eating meals, having chai and cookies, and creating bonds of trust and support.

We had our first college visit! Milli is attending a pharm tech program and is living in a dorm about an hour away from home. We got to visit her school and dorm and saw how happy and thriving she is.

Coming from a family where only one parent can speak English and can count and neither parent can read or write, Milli is working towards an advanced degree that will open for her many career opportunities that her parents could have never dreamed of!
