Vessel Re-Glassing

Erosion, thermal shock, and mechanical damage can reduce the glass thickness to below the acceptable 30-mils threshold, necessitating removal from service. Given the significant investment in such equipment, coupled with the high costs and long lead times associated with fabricating new vessels, reglassing presents a cost-effective, efficient alternative.

Reglassing is a streamlined process that restores various components, such as access covers, agitators, baffles, valves, and reactors, to like-new condition.

The benefits of reglassing include:

  • Cost Savings: Reglassing is cheaper than purchasing new equipment.
  • Time Efficiency: Reglassing can be completed in approximately ten weeks.
  • Extended Equipment Life: Reglassing extends operational life and performance standards.

Evaporator Dish Re-Glassing

An evaporator dish, typically a shallow ceramic or glass container, is vital in concentrating solutions by removing solvents through evaporation. However, the harsh conditions under which evaporator dishes operate can cause their glass lining to deteriorate over time.

This wear and tear can lead to:

  • Decreased efficiency: A worn-out dish may not heat uniformly, leading to inconsistent evaporation rates and affecting the quality of the final product.
  • Contamination risks: Chips or cracks in the lining can harbor contaminants, compromising the purity of the samples.
  • Increased maintenance costs: Replacing the entire dish is costlier and more wasteful than reglassing.
