November 6, 2020

This election, while it felt like a year, proved people care about public education in Wisconsin! Nearly every referendum on the ballot won. I wish I could say it was over but we may have to take action to defend the results. Mobilizations are planned in Madison, Milwaukee and hopefully Green Bay will be soon added to the list. Check out the Region 3 Facebook page for up-to-date information on ways you can be involved.

Now let's talk about another kind of election- it's Recertification Season! Voting officially began on Wednesday at noon and will close on Tuesday, November 24th at noon. Every vote matters and since a non-vote counts as a no vote, we have to make sure we are mobilizing all our yes voters! After elections, we are continually shocked at how many members don't vote in recertification. That's truly a lost opportunity to show power. We want to make sure each local going through the process has the highest percentage of yes votes that we can muster! It shows the district just how strong you are and that members AND non-members alike look to you for leadership. Your directors want you to finish big and we're here to help! We can help you create a communications plan to make sure no members forget to vote!

In Solidarity,

Kristin Lytie
Regional Director

Get out there and BE VISIBLE!

How can we have 10-minute meetings during the pandemic? Now is probably the BEST time to reach out to your members! Facebook live, Google hangouts, Zoom...

Winning Your Recertification Election

Some important things to remember:

  • Your district emails can only be used to encourage people to vote. "Vote Yes" messages must be sent to personal emails.
  • Not voting counts as a "No" vote.
  • Urge people to use the online option-it works more effectively than the call-in option.
  • What's your plan to get out the vote? Are you texting? Using Facebook? Your director can help you get the resources you need to win at!
We're stronger
every day!
Member Sign Up

Easy, fast online feature supports your membership efforts
WEAC online member sign-up, Join Now, is now available to provide a convenient and fast way for educators to become members of our union.
In a series of simple screens, educators can enter their information to become a member. This feature is especially useful during one-on-one membership conversations. While the process is entirely online, it is recommended that organizers and leaders stay with educators through the sign-up process to answer any questions that might arise.

WEAC Region 3 would now like to invite members and potential members to these meetings. This is your opportunity, Region 3 members, to bring a non-member friend. Let's show them the value of union membership!
Region 3 created an ESP Connection Call to check in with one another, keep each other in the loop and plan our next steps. It was discovered that now more than ever ESP staff need to be in contact with each other to discuss what their districts are doing, best practices and how to implement them in their own district. The global pandemic has revealed that schools are the social safety nets for many of our communities and that those safety nets work because you do.
Please join us on Monday, November 9 at 4:30 pm via zoom to participate in this important conversation.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
