Good News Family & Friends,

There are LOTS of great opportunities for ministry this week! See details below. Guys are welcome to join us for "Untapped" THIS Thursday (7pm - 9pm) at Monkey Wrench Brewing. This Friday is St. Patrick's Day and is a great opportunity to connect and build relationships with neighbors and friends. See resources below. This Saturday is also a great opportunity to serve with Good News at Noon (11:30am - 1:30pm). As always, all are invited join us on Wednesdays (7pm - 8:30pm) at Hillside for Midweek Connect. See below for details on these and additional announcements.

St. Patrick's Day Resources

St. Patrick's Day (THIS Friday) is a great opportunity to connect and build relationships with friends and neighbors. We've invited our neighbors for a drop by happy hour of Irish food and beverages. If you're thinking of spending time with neighbors, below are a few resources that you might enjoy being aware of and/or sharing.

For a "crash course" in the spiritual significance of St. Patrick, you can Drue's brief explanation of Who Is St. Patrick? and brief highlights of St. Patrick's Confessions.

NEW! Reuben Casserole

We discovered this recipe a few years ago, and it's delicious. About this recipe, Laura said, "I'm not a fan of a Reuben sandwich and I don't like sauerkraut, but this casserole is really good!" So, enjoy!

For fun, here are links to a few of Drue's favorite Irish songs by the High Kings (a fantastic Irish group that has toured all over the world that our family enjoyed seeing in concert a few years ago).

INSPIRATION

Quote of the Week

From the Confession of St. Patrick, this is Patrick's own account of his encounter with the love of Christ... "So I am first of all a simple country person, a refugee, and unlearned. I do not know how to provide for the future. But this I know for certain, that before I was brought low, I was like a stone lying deep in the mud. Then he who is powerful came and in his mercy pulled me out, and lifted me up and placed me on the very top of the wall. That is why I must shout aloud in return to the Lord for such great good deeds of his, here and now and forever, which the human mind cannot measure."

Verse of the Week

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Jesus (Matthew 6:19-21)

Untapped - THIS Thursday, March 16 (7pm - 9pm) at Monkey Wrench Brewing

We've discovered that a lot of guys are frustrated at their lack of friendships, from either working from home in isolation or just not being from Atlanta and not having many friends here. As a way of digging into that challenge, we recently launched “Untapped,” and it was a huge success! There’s no agenda. Just a time to meet up, have a beer or soft drink, hang out, and get to know a few other guys in this community around some informally guided conversation. For questions, email Drue Warner.

Good News at Noon - THIS Saturday, March 18 (11:30am - 1:30pm)

Good News at Noon is a local homeless ministry in the Gainesville area, and we've been invited to partner with our friends at Phoenix Coffee by helping to serve lunch on the 3rd Saturday each month. If you're interested in volunteering, SIGN UP HERE. For questions, feel free to email Cravens Doggett.

Men's Group - Every Monday (7pm - 9pm) @ Hillside

Every Monday evening, guys connect and talk about life and faith. There's no set agenda or homework. Just show up and enjoy some good conversation about real life challenges and encouraging stories of God at work. Location: Hillside Retreat House (5879 Hillside Farm Rd., Sugar Hill, GA 30518). For more info, contact Jeff Scordino.

Midweek Connect - Every Wednesday (7pm - 8:30pm) @ Hillside

Midweek Connect is a comfortable, casual, conversational opportunity to connect and build relationships while discussing faith and life. Most often, we'll use the most recent Sunday sermon as our starting point for discussion, reflection, and conversation. It's a fun and faith-inspiring time together. Beverages (coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc.) and snacks provided. Feel free to attend as your schedule allows. For questions, contact Drue

NEW! A Study on Creation vs. Evolution - Sundays (1:30pm - 3pm)

Brian Marcus (in our church) has a passion for providing insight and teaching around the topic of "Creation vs. Evolution," and is offering a 6 week interactive study. Brian has also written a book on this subject titled, Creation Fights Back. For more information, email Brian Marcus.

NEW! Hymns & Hops - Sunday, April 16 (5pm - 7pm)

Save the date for our next Hymns & Hops in partnership with Indio Brewing in the outdoor promenade of downtown Sugar Hill. This one is going to be great, so be thinking who you can invite, bring the family, and help us "Sing the Good News and enjoy good brews!"

VISION & VALUES

The vision of Good News Church GA is "to experience and express LOVE from God to others." The verse that undergirds our vision is Galatians 5:5b, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” We value people, community, relationships, prayer, and Bible reading. We also value being able to be yourself. We’re all struggling with something, so there’s no need to pretend that we have it all together.

MISSION

The mission of Good News Church GA is "to connect with people and build relationships through community workshops, neighborhood-focused ministry, serving local needs, mentoring, and worship."
