Flourless Almond Muffins (Banana Blueberry Adaptation)
|
We received a special request for the Banana Blueberry Muffin recipe that was served regularly at the Ceres Café. So of course we asked Cole, our former Café Manager, for the secret to this delicious recipe.
Here's how he adapted the recipe from our cookbook:
|
"The muffin that the customer is referring to is the Flourless Almond Muffins from the cookbook. I just add about ½ a cup of fresh or frozen blueberries and /or bananas and then dust with a little Rapadura sugar before baking. The recipe is scaled very easily as well, but I don't add the fruit until I am ready for baking, or else they come out soggy. I hope that's helpful! "
Thank you Cole for illuminating us on this tasty treat. Now you too can enjoy this tasty gluten-free treat at home!

Gratitude from a Client

Thank you, Margaret Howe
|
|
This month we honored and celebrated Margaret Howe as she prepared to leave her role as Ceres' Associate Director.
Former teens, staff members and volunteers poured in to celebrate Margaret and everything she has done for Ceres and the community at large.
Margaret has been an integral part of Ceres' evolution these past nine years. Her passion for our community, her insight and her wisdom are woven into the fabric of what we do, and will leave a legacy long after she moves on to her next act.
We hope you'll enjoy these moments captured by Kim Stuffelbeam, our Creative Director.
Click here to see even more photos from Margaret party and here to watch a beautiful collection of testimonials dedicated to Margaret and sent in from people--including many former Teen Chefs--who couldn't be with us in person.

Our new catering van--thanks to you!
|
|
I'm sure many of you are wondering whatever happened regarding our Ceres Catering van fundraiser. So many of you contributed and were a part of this effort. Well I'm excited to report that the catering van is here!
Not only that, but it's compact, handles easily, has 3 access doors for easy loading, and even has built-in catering racks which will store sizable amounts of food and equipment. We are so excited!
We would like to extend a warm thank you to all who contributed to this fundraising effort. We couldn't have gotten the van without you. It will make a world of difference in supporting our Catering program and job development opportunities for Ceres youth.
Be sure to stay tuned for more van updates and watch it transform from a standard van into a bright and beautiful vehicle that will transport the community-minded leaders of tomorrow!

Thank you, Eagle Scouts (Troop 32)
Troop 32 built 6 worm bins and 5- 20 foot raised beds for our Santa Rosa garden space during our 2nd community workday.
"It was awesome to see these kids come together and get it done" remarked Lee Foster, Ceres Santa Rosa Garden Coordinator.

We wanted to share a couple of photos from the day and thank Troop 32 again for all of their hard work.

Looking for a way to give back to your community?
We're working to add nearly 40% more clients to our meal program in Santa Rosa. Demand for our healing meals is high, and the recent closure of our café frees up space and time in the kitchen. But we need more volunteers to make it happen! Can you help out with one of these important roles--
- Delivery Angels (Wednesday evening and Thursday morning). *We especially need Delivery Angels willing to travel to Sonoma Valley!
- Prep volunteers (12:30-2:30 shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday)
