Dear Members,
I hope that you all are starting to enjoy the weather and some of the celebrations that are resuming this spring and into the summer. It was great to see some of you at the Yard Goats game in April and I’m looking forward to the next one in September; so save the date, September 10th; concert included!
June promises to be a busy month!
- The call for presentations closes at the end of this week for our in person event in October at University of Hartford. Poster submissions will continue to be open!
- LAMP Leadership 101 is returning to our area and will be at MCPHS on June 25th and 26th. We are looking forward to seeing our present and future leaders gather and learn more ways to lead and grow our profession and our components.
- Our second MOCK House of Delegates is coming on June 21st! Never heard of house of delegates?? Well this is a fantastic introduction to our process of governance; with students and faculty as well as our delegates, assisting with debate on current topics that will be up for vote and discussion in the House of Delegates during the Leadership Congress in August. For more information, reach out to one of our delegates!
As June rolls into July, we look forward to the golf tournament! Our opportunity to raise some funds for our legislative and lobbying efforts, it’s also a great opportunity to get outdoors and network!
Oh and the other big news, we have officially received word that dry needling is in fact, within our scope of practice and is separate and distinct from acupuncture. With officially receiving the sign off from the governor’s office, we can continue to move forward with supporting our efforts of an autonomous profession, payment and policy. Interested in what we have been working on? Connect with some of our Legislative team members and they would be happy to fill you in.
Those are just a few of the highlights, with many things going on! I hope you all are taking some time to yourselves this summer. Enjoy the weather, the outdoors, family and friends. Recharge your batteries, as it has certainly been a long few years, and while we know that there is still the lingering effects and unknowns, we also know that mental health, wellness, and taking care of ourselves and our loved ones continues to be paramount. In a world where there is some much going on, all the time, tainting the news with sorrow, mourning, worries and concerns; at times it feels like we are going backwards, I encourage you all to pause this summer, reflect, relax, reset, reconnect and regroup, and keep moving forward.
