These supportive MLA Candidates have a Party that has gone on record as having school choice as part of its policies on education.
The three Parties that include charter schools and/or school choice in their platform are: Conservative, Christian Heritage and Libertarian.
Representing these Parties are:
19 Conservative MLA Candidates
5 Christian Heritage MLA Candidates
25 Libertarian MLA Candidates
---------------------------------------------
49 MLA Candidates in 3 Parties
These 49 MLA Candidates are campaigning in 41 ridings across the province. Some ridings have two MLA Candidates supporting school choice.
Forty-one ridings make up 47% of the total 87 ridings in British Columbia.
The province can be divided into 5 areas which are Island, Burrard, Fraser, Interior and North so that the level of MLA Candidate support throughout the province can be evaluated by measuring it in each area.
Island - 21% of 14 ridings and 3 with supportive MLA Candidates
Burrard - 48% of 25 ridings and 12 with supportive MLA Candidates
Fraser - 42% of 24 ridings and 10 with supportive MLA Candidates
Interior - 57% of 14 ridings and 8 with supportive MLA Candidates
North - 80% of 10 ridings and 8 with supportive MLA Candidates
I have prepared a list of the ridings in each of the five areas including the name of each MLA Candidate who supports charter schools or school choice by virtue of representing a Party with such in its pubicly available policy document.
The list can be seen here,
A sampling of the cities in each area and the numbers mentioned above are graphically displayed in the Facebook section below.
